Cobb Accessport
so i asked cobb if i could run the accessport with my setup:
borla catback full K&N shortram intake the guy recomended to use the stock intake. So i asked him why it would be better then my K&N. This is what he wrote me: After market intakes tend to not flow consistently, and they tend to flow with turbulent air. This turbulent air is often not read properly by the air sensor in the intake. When the air cannot be calibrated, there is usually a loss in power. The stock intake is not a restriction on the Stage 1 and Stage 2 street tunes, and it will flow the more consistent over any aftermarket intake. So now i am wondering why i changed or if it was worth it. Any input would be nice.

i ran the stock box with my 18g. teh Perrin SRI that i tried next ran leaner.
when i was getting tuned the SRI was ausing a lean spot from ~3000rpm to 4000rpm at about 13:1 when the target was 11.5 and was still lean by 1AFR by redline. the tuner (who has 13 years experience) tried throwing fuel at it as well as adjusting calibrating the MAF, but still the same results. i was able to borrow a friends Cobb SF intake, and the afrs went back to the targets. |

you have two options IMHO gloves: 1.) Get the accesport and have it custom tuned to your intake 2.) Ditch the intake and go back to the stock box. |

tell you why what exactly? Do you honestly think all aftermarket mods sold for cars are beneficial to them? you were already explained why you should not leave the intake untuned for. . it's messes with the MAF readings and could potentially be dangerous to the health of your engine. It's either stock intake or get it tuned for. I don't think this is the forum where we go into an explanation why aftermarket components are sold. . .we'll leave that for business 101. |
