no more limit

but nonetheless.. I have NARROWED DOWN MY SEARCH!!

I am looking at wheels that are 8-8.5" wide.. I still cant make up my mind about 17" or 18" wheels... I am now leaning more towards the 17" wheels because I like the look of a thicker tire like the 245's

245 is the width of the tire. You want a thicker sidewall from the 17" tire. Example, if a tire is 245/40-17, the 40 dictates how tall/thick the sidewall is. 40 means 40% of the width, which in this example is 245mm.

You want to keep the overall diamter as close to stock as possible. This tool will help you compare: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

These aren't 17", but if you want a nice setup that's right at $1200, I'd recommend these. The wheels are on closeout and the Contis are a good Max Performance summer tire.

Feel free to correct anything I posted, or to even offer a useful opinion on any of it. I'm all ears. I would love for you to help me learn all these things I "dont [sic] know."

Let's start with punctuation, capitalization and communicating like an adult. Once you're done teaching me about that, you can move on to teaching me about tires.

What offset? I don't know if the Torque is available in +42, but if it is, that's what you want. Even with a +42 and 245/40-17 tires, you may have rubbing in the rear. Any offset lower than that you will definitely have rubbing and will require fender pulling.

Have fun rubbing. If you don't want to rub, you will HAVE TO get your fenders rolled/pulled.

yes.

If you don't understand width/offset relationship, what you need to do is STOP LOOKING AT WHEELS, and start reading the stickies at the top.

are there any 9" wide wheels that have a +42 offset?

or 8.5" wide that would fit stock fenders?

Ive been mainly looking at tirerack.com, but they only show the side view.. its doesn't actually show you if they are flush or poke out.

Yes. It'll fit but you won't get that poke look (which is a good thing IMO). It won't quite be flush either, but you'll have much less chance of rubbing.

Ah ok.. I guess its just very hard to find wheels that have the perfect offset. Like 17x9 +42 or 17x8.5 +45.

Thanks for the help!

These are some sexy beasts!! Im just a little worried about having to pull fenders. Would this fit right in with stock alignment or should I go with the 235's just incase?

If I do go from 17x7+55 to 17x9 +42 it says

Inner Clearance: 12mm LESS (how much space do I have before I hit the struts?)

Outer Position: EXTEND an extra 38mm (how much space do I have before rubbing issues?)

and if I go from 17x7 +55 to 17x9 +30 the inner clearance stays the same.. just the outer position will extend an extra 50mm instead of just 38mm.

So that means Ill probably have to roll all my fenders? but for the +42 offset I might only need to roll my rear fenders?

Just found out I can get my buddies roller for 30bucks.. so rolling isn't completely out of the question

thanks again for all your help MAV1C

You'll be fine on inner clearance with the 17x9 +42 and 245/40-17. I used to run 245/40-17 on a 17x8.5 +48 offset and had plenty of inner clearance.

Those Nexen tires are garbage. Junk. Crap. Get something better. If you're trying to stay cheap, and those offerings from wheeldude are you're only choices, at least go with the Hankook V12

thanks bro, appreciate it!

+35 offset
http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=5869

+42 offset
http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=5733

$100 difference between the two ROTA DPT's

Is this because there is less fitment required with the +42?

Which lugs do I need? 12 x 1.25 or 1.5

and thank you for letting me know those tires are crap.. Ill look into the V12's

I don't know why the +42 wheels cost $100 more. Seems crazy to me. Maybe shop around.

But you DO want the +42 versions.

ok.. I wondered the same thing

and for the same price I could get the 18x9 +40.. but Im guessing with those If I got the 265/35's on it Id have to do more than just roll my fender? or could I get away with just rolling them? (because its a 0.3" taller diameter)
