Hey guys I am new to Nasoic, and trying to figure out what to do with my brakes. I have a 2005 RS with stock at the moment. I've spent a lot of time researching on the forums but haven't been able to find a definite answer.

I would like to do the H6 rears while keeping the stock 277mm front. I have dedicated winter tires on 15" so I can't do a front upgrade.

I know there will be a 10% shift to the back in brake bias, but will this be to great and make the car unstable with keeping the RS front brakes, or will the car feel much nicer?

I know Subaru made a legacy L with 277mm fronts and 290mm rears, but I'm assuming it has different weight bias. (Grabbed that from a 2002 Legacy service manual)

That also clarifies from anyone wondering if the H6 rear will clear 15" rims. If the inside of your 15" has the same clearance as OEM one's they will clear the H6 rears.

i know this thread is ancient but i really need some help.

swapped out drum brakes for 2pot front/1pot rears.
was told they were from 08 2.5i.

bought ebc greens.
fronts fit, rears don't fit.

the rears have a marking on them: AK FA230 EE

anyone know what they mean, what car these came from, what size i should be looking for? thanks!

Default 16 X 6.5" rims with 55 offset clear 4 pots

Not sure if anyone discovered this yet but from a recent drive train swap I discovered that 16 inch by 6.5 inch deep rims will clear 4 pot calipers if they have a 55mm offset or greater. I have a set of winter tires on 06 to 07 impreza 2.5i rims with this offset that just barely clear where my 04 WRX rims with a 53mm offset do not clear.

This is why you can do 4 pots on imprezza but not the WRX because the 6.5 inch rims have 55mm offsets while the 53mm offset rims are 7 inches deep. the WRX rims are 53mm but 6.5 inch which is a no no.

posted some pics so you can see.

Get some 06-07 stock wheels. If you ever go to the snow and want to run a smaller wheel, you want to be careful about the snow buildup turning to ice and filling up that little space between wheel and caliper. Same with the tire and wheel well. Nearly had one wheel on the car froze solid driving in whiteout conditions for hours from the snow build up on the wheel well pushing against my tire.

Tribeca rear caliper is D1124. Currently investigating if you can use the rear caliper + STI rotor do to a R180 swap for cheap.

Good to know that its the same D size as the BRZ so it should have plenty of track pad options

Default subaru/FHI 4-pot/2-pot brakes

this thread is extremely helpful but i'm suffering from hardcore information overload..i've only found a hand full of threads that cover the FHI 4-pot/2-pot brakes AND obxts...and somewhere between backing plates and rotor sizes and parking brakes and the kartboy adapters i've gotten real lost..

trying to determine if the kartboy rear brake adapters will work for my 2006 obxt. i understand the fronts will bolt on.. according to this thread, i have the 274x10mm rear rotors (same as the 05-09 legacy, which IS compatible with the kartboy adapters according to the rallysport direct website (www.rallysportdirect.com/Kartboy-KB-016-Big-Brake-Adapters-FHI-2-Pot-Rear-Subaru)) but i'm thinking same rotors ***8800; adapter compatibility..

been looking at this legacy intl thread as well:
sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=20576

my summer wheels are enkei 18x8's but i switch to the stock 17x7's in the winter. just got the car a few months ago, lots planned, but needs work on the front brakes very soon so i am in need. i like these brakes for an upgrade and really like the look as well! (and the price..)

anyway, greetings from a new user...not looking for an easy answer and am happy to dig if it means eventually i can write up later for others in my same position! looking for some direction more than anything. many thanks.

Question Break conversion from drums to calipers

Hi Guys,

I'm from the Netherlands and driving a Subaru Forester from the year 2006 for over a halve year now. And i love the car, i always driven a Vauxhall but this is a different dimension.

After this afternoon i almost discovered a new dimension. The break drums didn't stopped me that much to give me a comfortable feeling during an emergency breaking action....

So i'm here to get myself some rotors and calipers and get rid of the drums.

So i searched the internet and found myself a WRX drive train. This is fitted with all the parts i need. To fit it on my Forester, i guess.

But will it fit? To get the WRX breaking pieces directly on my Forester.

It's a complete set with cabling and all stuff

This is well known as the H6 rear rotor. The Legacy caliper is the same as most other 99-07 1-pot Subaru calipers so you can upsize to this rotor simply by purchasing the brackets and correct pads.
The "H6" bracket is part number 26625AE000. It uses pad shape D770
Applications:
00-04 Legacy/Outback non-brighton
SVX (5x114.3, 190mm parking brake)
Ver5 STI type-RA (5x100, 190mm parking brake)

290x18mm (190mm parking brake)

The Ver3+ type RAs had the r180 rear end which had the 190mm parking brake as stated, but the top link is a 170mm one. The correct one for the Ver3+ type RAs is the bottom link. Minor mistake

I didn't think so because of the offset, but I figured I would ask to make sure.

I'm thinkering with the brakes on my 2003 SG forester.

Current set-up:

front: 276x24 2 pot sliding
rear: drum

What I'd like is this:

front: 294x24 2 pot sliding (or 4 pot fixed, but will not clear the Outback 16 inch alloys IMAO)
rear: 290x18 (or 290x10) 2 pot (sliding or fixed)

I've been going trough partnumbers all week, because I want the car to be as stock as possible, without having to cut/grind down dust shields.
The front is not realy a problem, I've ordered a pair of SG XT dust shields (294mm), and I think a new caliper bracket will do the trick... Am I right?

The rear is a bit more difficult. The forester never had 290mm brakes, so no backing plate is available. As mentioned before, I do not want to grind the original 266 backing plate down, I just want one that fits. So, I was looking into some Impreza WRX parts and came across this part: 26704FE080 and -090. These are backing plates suited for a 290 brake, with a 2 pot caliper. I was wondering a few things:

- can I use these with the 16 inch outback wheels (since they do not clear the 4 pots in front - so I am sold)
- is there a sliding caliper that may fit this shield?
- is there an other dust shield (290mm) I could use (I've tried an outback H6 one, will not fit in any way).

Thanks

Thomas

I've had a good search through but I can't find anything on the size of rear discs on my Impreza.
I've got an early 1996 JDM import WRX STi v2. I have read somewhere that it's got 230mm but there was no source.
The car is being worked on by my friend at the moment, so I can't measure them, and would want to be certain before placing an order anyway.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Should be the 266x10mm solid rear rotor.

Hey guys,

Does anyone have technical drawings like the DBA ones of the Group N Gravel rotors, and the BRZ rotor?

They seem pretty close, but I'm curious just how close they actually are.

Thanks!

Got to work on the brake matter for my Forester SG and found out I can use 4 pots with 16 inchers from an outback. The wheel clears the caliper by a hair, but it clears .

Pleased how this turns out.

Update June 1st

Received the NK 4 pots today and tried them on the Forester. The powercoated outback limited wheels clear them, but it was a close call. I can't measure much more than 1mm between the caliper and the spokes...

What it looked like:

Caliper fitted (still with old disc and no pads)

Wheel trial fitted, so happy it fits...

Difficult to see, but it clears.

Now that I'm sure it all bolts up, I can order tyres, discs and pads .

Yes they will fit....BUT... your stock front rotors are much larger than the 06-07 4 pot upgrade.

Stock = 316x30mm
4 Pot = 292x24mm

You can upgrade the front to the Z32 caliper upgrade. This allows you to keep the stock front rotor, and go to a caliper that is similar to the 4 Pot.

Z32 Upgrade done on BRZ/FRS

So I got a somewhat technical question, hoping someone will be able answer. So I bought brembos from a jdm 2002 sti (same as 04 usdm sti) with the special rear rotors that allow me to use my ebrake still [02-07 wrx] and was planning on putting them on my 2002 wrx. Bought the rear brackets so i could utilize my old rear hubs. Anyways, I decided I'm selling my 2002, and that's where my question comes in. I have a 00' 2.5 rs and i was wondering

A) would the special brackets I bought so they would fit on 02-07 wrx's work the same with my 2000 hubs?

B) would the rotors fit? and more importantly, would the special rear rotors that allow the e-brake to work on my 2002 serve the same function on my 2000?

Thanks in advance

Hi guys

I've got a GT86 in the UK and currently trying to fit the 08+ rear STi calipers and rotors to the car

From all my research I look to have the correct rotors. 316mm x 20mm with an overall height of 63.4mm

However, when fitting to the hub and trying to put the caliper over it, it's as if the discs height is too much and causing it to hit the inside of the caliper nearest to the side the bolts onto the hub. Picture below to give you an idea

Any ideas why this could be? It's literally 1mm/2mm out but it's not fitting properly...

Any help much appreciated
