Sorry for the quality of the photos. I hope you like them. My gf and I love our Impreza. As you can tell, I'm in winter mode right now. I love how the car handles in the snow. It has already kept me out of trouble more times than I care to mention.

Thanks...I'm saving my good rims for the summer. I thought about putting on some cheesy wheel covers on it, but after looking around I decided that the car doesn't look too bad with the plain black steelies.

So I know this topic has been talked about a few times and today in New Jersey, it is snowing all day and I finally got to experience first hand how VDC worked and felt like. Basically I was on my neighborhood street going around a right turn and my back end starting to kick out and VDC gave my car a sudden jolt and it stopped my car from having the back end whip around. It just made my car straight on the road and I have to say, this is pretty damn cool.
Coming from a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero, I'm enjoying the Subaru and I'm thankful I was recommended about them cause I never thought I would ever own a Subaru. Happy riding everyone. |

Its snowing here in CT ...hope we get something good cause I have never looked so forward to driving in it! All the ladies at work said they want me to pick them up cause I am the only one who isnt afraid. I can't even imagine how this car will do next year when i get rid of the crap tires it came stock with.

It snowed last night here in Eastern Ontario. We got about 15cm/6 in of snow. I've quickly realized that's not a lot of snow for a Subaru, but it's still enough to have some fun. My gf went to the gym this morning and the parking lot was poorly plowed. In fact, the snow plow left a nice 2 ft mound of snow in the front of and in the back of the second row. So no matter which way you went, you had a large mound of snow to plow through.
She was laughing when she told me that people were getting stuck all over the place. She said it was so cool being the only person not even close to getting stuck as our Impreza plowed nicely through the mound of snow. We do a fair amount of long distance travel, so when we bought the car I made sure that we got a good set of winter tires. My Blizzak Revo1's are awesome on this car. I'm sure that it would handle ok with the stock all seasons. However, because of the harsh conditions I sometimes encounter will during my trips, I feel a lot safer using 4 winter tires. I've been driving in snow and ice on all seasons over 10 years and these are easily the worst all seasons I've had on snow... The only good thing about it is I could do drifting at 20km/h . |

Agreed, the stock tires really are inadequate in the snow. My other car, a FWD with different type of all season tires feels more secure in the snow/ice than the Suby. Of course the Suby would shine in this weather, but the stock tires are very bad in snow.

Post pics of your tailpipe cover! I want to see how it looks before I order mine. Within the next couple of months this is what I have planned:
Rally Armor Flaps IPOD integration Trunk Tray Rear Bumper Protector Chrome Tailpipe Cover Red out the tails Debadge the rear It's not what my wrx was and never will be, but it will be fun to do some fun, worthwhile, inexpensive stuff to it. |

My wife and I just bought a red automatic '08 Impreza 2.5i baase model 5-door to replace her '96 Impreza 2-door L model.
It's not bad, but I swear that the old Impreza handled better, accelerated faster (both automatics), among other things. Overall, it should be reliable, if her 1996 Impreza and the other 9 Subarus my family has owned are any indication. I saw in one of the first posts that someone else didn't like the shifter. I don't know if they were referring to the manual or the automatic, but I find all of the notches on the auto annoying -- I prefer a straight pattern for P-R-N-D-L, and then an offset for the autostick. Now if I can just get around to buying and installing the rear sway bar kit and find a way to make the low beams brighter (even a 6000K HID kit didn't help much)... |

^ Sport mode helps, but the tranny still hunts for a gear now and then. The auto-stick mode is actually my favorite. That, at least, is an improvement over the old Impreza.

Quick request:
Since it looks like a lot of you like to take/post pics of your car... can someone take a pic of the instrument panel at night w/the lights on? I'm just curious as most of the pics available online (yes, I did a search for them) are WRX only... and since I'm only considering a 2.5i... pretty please? |
