What would baby
Jesus say of OT?

Question So what does it take to from 51/49 to 50/50?

So I’ve read the WRX/STi weight distribution is 51% front 49% rear and was wondering... From the weight curb weight it seems the difference is around 65lbs. So what would be the best way of achieving 50/50 with minimal impact or is it even worth it. Removing the spare and relocating battery would be enough? Anyone tried getting this distribution as opposed to just removing weight?

Where did you read that? I'm fairly sure that none of the Imprezas come close to 50/50. Maybe 60/40?

Sell your Impreza, and buy a Miata.

As others have said, it's more like 60/40 from the factory, and with the engine mounted so far forward it'd be a hell of a trick getting it to 50/50 (without just adding ballast)

get c/o's, and get your car corner balanced...

you won't get 50/50, at least not easily... you can always take out your AC, switch to the JDM bumper beam, relocate battery to the rear. that will help with weight, but without actually adding weight to the rear, I don't think you'll get close to 50/50 due to the drivetrain...

yeah they are all correct, if 50-50 is your goal, an old corolla RWD or miata is right for you.

Of course, you could go crazy style and push the motor about 2 inches back into the firewall =)

thats a whole other can of worms, well save that for another day...

but seriously, take off as much from the front as you can, then get a good set of coilovers and get it corner weighted, if you go to a good suspension/alignment guy, he should get you alot more than what you may expect =)

I carry about 150 lbs of equipment in the back of my wagon all the time, and it's still not 50/50. I've got the suspension tuned for that weight balance and it handles great (it feels kinda weird when the weight's NOT back there), but the extra weight doesn't exactly make the car quicker.
