MD: Defi 60mm Imperial BF Amber Turbo/EGT/Oil Press Gauges & Clock Pod! DISCONTINUED!
SOLD!!!
Alright, here's all the info on these. I purchased these from a kid on here who clearly did not disclose all of the details about the gauges. So, I'll do my best to show and explain everything. First and foremost, because the previous owner had subwoofers in his trunk, he decided to superglue the gauges to the pod at the back (not visible when installed), whereas most people use double side tape. This is good and bad. Good because they will never move out of place or rattle or anything of the sort, but bad because I cannot part out any of the gauges separately. They all must go at once. Here is a pic to show what I mean: Next, the previous owner did not tell me that the two front clips that hold the pod down are broken. This really doesn't affect anything at all, the pod is still clipped in place at other places and doesn't move around or come off or anything of the sort. But, for someone like me who is super anal about their car, I was pretty pissed after taking into consideration that I couldn't just simply replace the pod due to the gauges being superglued at the back. Again, a pic to show what I mean: Now that's out of the way. Moving on, I have all the sensors and wires EXCEPT for the oil pressure sensor and wire. You will have to source an oil pressure sensor and wire yourself. The DC Source wire is there and works flawlessly, powers all three gauges and control unit up. The Boost sensor and wire as well as the EGT sensor and wire are all there and work flawlessly as well. So why don't I have the oil press sensor and wire? Well, the oil pressure sensor was installed way underneath the intake manifold when I was getting the majority of my aftermarket performance parts installed. There is no way I'd be able to take the time to take everything apart just for the oil press sensor. The wire NEVER WORKED. Another thing that the previous owner never told me. There are 3 wires in the oil press wire and after nonstop testing without being able to figure out the problem, I figured out that there was a break somewhere in the red wire. I still have the oil press wire if you want it, but it's practically useless if you ask me. Here are pics of all sensors and wires. DC Source: Boost: EGT: And what's left of the Oil Press, as described: Finally, now moving onto the control unit. My control unit was working perfectly until one day it took a crap on me. I went through hell and back traveling ALL over MD one day trying to source another control unit. It was aggravating since they were discontinued and NOBODY had any. After a day of searching, I somehow found a shop that had a used one laying around in the back. They got me for $135, which again I wasn't too happy about, but I had no choice as nobody else had one and I didn't want to spend days hoping that somebody on the forum would be willing to part theirs out. The used one I got worked perfectly, although it was missing a few of the plastic clips in the back where the wires clip into. I transferred the plastic clips over to the new unit and it was back to working as good as new. So, this is why I have two control units. The one on the right is the perfectly functioning one which the gauges will come with. The one on the left is the one that doesn't work. If somebody wants to take on a project to try to get the other control unit to work again, I'm willing to sell it for dirt cheap. Pics: However, after all these nitty gritty details explaining what I went through, once installed your gauges will work no problem and the finished product installed in your car will look like this: So, for those who STILL choose not to read, let's recap. I cannot part out the gauges, they are glued to the pod. The two front clips of the pod are broken. There is no oil press sensor and the oil press wire does not work (which you can find here: http://www.jscspeed.com/catalog/Defi...nts-683-1.html). I have an extra control unit that does not work that I'm willing to sell for dirt cheap if somebody wants it. Everything else is exactly as you'd expect. These still all work perfectly. It's becoming close to impossible to find the Imperial Defi's that read in PSI. Why am I selling? I'm not going to lie or BS you. I like the AEM Digital Boost/Wideband gauges better and I kinda got tired of trying to source discontinued Defi items (i.e. the control unit fiasco/oil press wire), and my headers aren't tapped for EGT so I don't even need it. With the extra control unit I purchased, I have spent close to $1k on this system over time. I am asking $790 OBO to get back what I paid. There you have it. ALL the details about this gauge setup you could ask for. I'm an up front honest seller and I'll be happy to answer any questions. Thank you. Last edited by Eyikrut; 08-03-2011 at 05:49 PM. |

My god, I come back to my thread already cluttered with this crap. What's new, give it a rest guys, I'm not a scammer or have 0 feedback where you have to call me out. I thought that with perfect forum feedback and credibility from several people on here that it would be alright to get my thread up to gauge some interest before coming through with pics. Anyway, I'll have ALL the details and pics up within the hour. I added a picture of them for the time being.

Jesus christ the fail in this thread
PM me if you want to close it and start over. Maybe skipping pictures and just explaining what's what will weed out the non-readers and non-buyers. No offense guys... but what you're complaining about is freaking silly. |

If it continues going in this direction, I'll consider starting over. I'll stick with it for the time being. At least you guys are bumping the thread and helping create a bit of interest. |

I'm shooting you an offer, since I plan to destroy the pod, and literally only need one small piece. So... I hope you are sitting down.

Just an FYI, I have the same gauges and pulled them from my 07 STI. Couldn't save any of the wiring so I was stuck with a control unit and three gauges. After some research I found that JSCSPEED.COM carries all replacement parts that are necessary to get these great gauges in working order. All wiring and fittings are on there website but it will cost you. I ended up paying around $320 or so for all the wiring and fittings for boost, egt and oil pressure. Hope this helps for the person who bought these if you ever have any issues and for anyone else that owns these.

Did that. Ended up with a boost sensor that was"new" but they wouldn't send a replacement, and i had no luck detailing with tein (they import defi parts). So yea... Royal pain in the butt.
