What not to do with an engine swap!
We had a customer call us to ask about us wiring up his 2.0 engine swap he had done. We said no problem & we gave him a price.
The car was towed in & to our surprise this is how it looked. It had been at another shop & they could not do the wiring. They had taken the whole entire dash out of the car along with every bit of wiring that the car has. I couldn't believe it, I just stared at everything. Ed was laughing because he couldn't believe anyone would take this much out of there car. When doing this engine swap you don't have to remove all of this. Pam www.iSRPerformance.

hey i am doing that to a car right now....damn flood cars...looks to me like they were planning on doing a 100% 2.0 litre plug in and swapping dash harnesses as well as engine bay. Not sure how much you have to change but if it made it plug in and look factory i prolly would have done it that way as well, but then again it would only take me about 2 hours to have a car torn down that far

I did something pretty dumb that could be added to this list
The motor was hooked by a cable to a "come-along." The radiator was out of the car to make some room, but the A/C condensor was left in. (can anyone see where this is going?) When the motor was finally "freed" from the tranny, it swung foward and punctured the A/C core. I spent so much time trying not to remove any A/C stuff, but all that was feeble since the next two hours sprayed RC12... I really miss my A/C too Chad 93 1.8T |

Look at it this way, now is a good time to construct a full carbon fiber dash w/custom gauges and speaker pods...well...thats what I would do

Subachad...there is no reasont o remove the A/C to do it, just gotta make sure someone holds the motor cause it will want to swing. We did 8complex's that way.
Jeremy At least it's R134a which is $.99/12 oz can could be R12 which is now discontinued and about $12 and ounce |

you guy's have seen a mess till you have had to correct wiring harnesses from the local "performance" shops hacking ass job. They use quick splices on everything, when they tap the wrong wire they don't fix it, they just leave it. it's horrid, can take damn near forever to figure out the problem.

Jeremy, I realize that swing factor now, I just didn't think of it at the time. My own fault, but oh well. As for the freon, it is R12, I have a 93.

Wow and I thought I had fun converting a old Familia to turbo and AWD! At least I know what I was doing. Um roughly. What screwed me up was that the Familia DID require you to change the entire wiring harness. Only took a day to do it though.
