My grandmother and I had this convo the other day..
G-ma: how much money do you have in that car?? Me: idk...last time I checked somewhere around 12-14k g-ma: oohh lawd...you could have bought a new one for that me: not really...I would still need to add 15k to that to have a new one...then I would have a completely stock car instead of a fully built RS G-ma: you do know you can only go so fast on the road me: yeah but I wanna get to the speed limit quick g-ma:...???... Me: also I need that much power to compete with the other street racers...were have a race event at the elementary school tomorrow. G-ma: you race in school zones?? Me: yeah...I always win too...my turbo spools at 12mph g-ma: well just be careful ...she's a trip

Pretty much any one: "Man those cars are fast."
'Fat.' "Huh?" 'It's fat, not fast.' "300 HP?" 'Most of which it turned to glue on the way to the wheels while hauling around the 3350lbs of mass. Power to weight is a fail.' "Well it looks fast." |

I think i might actually have a new one. I don't remember seeing this one in the thread yet.
My friend:why was your car in the shop? me:it wouldnt start and i didnt have time to figure out why my friend:what was wrong with it? me:turned out to be the starter. they had a starter from a JDM starter lying around so they threw that one in for a pretty good price. my friend: you got a JDM starter? did it make your car faster??? |

Agreeing w/ reading entire sentence:
^Honestly, why make fun of an EVO when it has the ability to make more top end more easily? And my fav's are... 1. Other person: I would never put that much money in something that wasn't a classic. Me: I wasn't aware that classic cars had such great MPG and daily driving attributes? 2. Other person: Is that rod knock? Me: Nope, larger injectors. |

Was at the stealership yesterday having a key made for my car, and a guy in his mid-20's was there paying for the service done on his new wrx (i think it was probably 08-10). Anyway, I overheard this:
Guy: So I've been running 87 octane in my car... is that bad? Tech: Well, I would double check in your manual but it should say you need premium gas because of the turbo blah blah blah Guy: Oh well my friend said I could do either so I've been switching back and forth Tech: You'll see an improvement in mpg and performance if you run 92 or higher At this point I included myself in their conversation and informed the guy that I only run 93 in my car, won't even run 92 and that if he has a tune on it at all, he should run what the car was tuned for. Assuming it was stock (didn't seem like he knew a lot about his car), I told him to just stick with 93 and enjoy the intended performance. I shudder at the idea of running 87 in my car.. I mean, I know you can do it if you baby it and stay out of boost.. but... come on. |
