Default 2.1 stroker. Wrx eagle rods?

Hey guys

So I have searched around on Google and nasioc and couldn't get a straight answer. My ej205 spun a bearing and killed the crank and rod in the process. The block is still good along with everything else. So after deciding to build it. Picked up eagle H beam rods and new 205 crank from a friend for a steal of a deal. But after doing research I remembered you can stroke the motor out using Sti parts and custom pistons. So now that I am changing my plans. Power goal is 325-350. Nothing crazy with a jdm 6 speed Sti trans behind it. Non dccd version

Does anybody know if there is a piston out there that will allow me to use the Wrx block, Sti crank, use my 205 eagle rods? Or should I sell the eagle rods and crank and just get the Sti stuff?

Thanks guys.

You need a set of 79mm stroker pistons for an ej205 (JE #314446 is one example) to use the Eagle Rods. WRX and STI rods are the same length (130.5mm)

I appreciate the quick response. I dunno why when everybody does the builds they use STI rods, I can only assume its cause they are stronger then wrx rods? But I appreciate the info. I was really leaning towards the Manley pistons since I have heard nothing against them and most builds use that piston.

STI rods are indeed stronger than 2.0L WRX rods. I believe EJ255 and EJ257 rods are the same in terms of strength. I'm actually using a set of Manleys in one of my 2.12L stroker motors.

This isn't my image but the wrx rod is left and sti on the right.

Based on what mopar said I am curious if the eagle rods need to be resized...

Mopar by chance would he know off hand if the Eagle rods would need resizing or is that something he needs to see in person?

?

Never had to mess with crush on new Manleys...... Clearance yes. Perhaps you mean clearance? Manleys are tight out of the box

""On another note, I assume we are supplying a crank for you?
Preliminary measurements show that your rod big end will need to be resized as the are significantly small for correct bearing crush. This is common on a lot of aftermarket rods. Also, you will need +.026 mm bearings on number 2, 3, 4 main bearings or your clearances will be way too loose. Loose clearance on #3 is a sure way to lose a rod bearing on #2 or 3 con rod""

How much power can the 2.1L stroker make. I'm new to the subbie thing. Just built mine.

Sorry for the newb question but Is it possible to check whether an installed engine is a standard 2.0 or 2.1 stroker without major disassembly?
