Well, that's certainly an overkill solution to accessing the fog lights.

He's looking for a way to not lay on the ground, these are the possibilities

OK, well, I'll only speak for myself. But if I had to choose between laying on the ground vs. removing the car's bumper (which I'm guessing might force me to lay on the ground to accomplish), then I'll lay on the ground and leave the bumper alone.

I am thinking about lifting my '12 hatch about 1.5" using parts from primitive racing. Can you post pics of your lift so I can see what it looks like?

I'm cross posting this from the car/audio forum, but would like to get your guys' help on this:

I feel like an idiot for asking this, but does anyone have any tips for installing this grommet below (the longer one in the red box). I took this off for my amp install, and I am finding it extremely hard to re-install. There are 3 parts to the grommet, the center part fits back in find, but there is a nub on each end that I can't for the life of me figure out how to get back into the spot. Any tips?

Good idea, I do have wire grease as well that might help. Such a hard area to fit my hand too

Don't use grease or anything petroleum based. Armor All will work too.

Yea I was just being a jerk. I find there really is no easier way to access the fogs then to just stick your arm under the bumper and push the fog light trim out from behind. I could have mentioned using a creeper or even laying out a dirty towel or blanket, but that's to easy

Dish soap worked perfectly! Don't know why I never thought of it. I literally have been messing with that off and on for a couple of months! Done now!

Swapped my HID's out for a set of those Sylvania ZXE's yesterday. Had a malfunctioning ballast, so went back to halogens. Getting my Nokya yellow fog halogens next week to complete the look. The amber LED fogs looked great with the HID's, but the yellows will look better with the more white look of the ZXE's..

Also, awhile ago, I replaced all my stock bulbs around the outside with Sylvania Long Life / Silverstar ones and I'm happy with that. But one thing I loved is that I am running a pair of amber bulbs in my "eyelids" in place of the clear ones. It gives the car a wayyyy better look. I had white LED's for awhile in there, but the amber ones look great.

Next week a few things are happening on the wagon. Getting my 17x7 steelies in, and putting my Continental snows on them so those are going on there, as well as finally getting my tint done. Can't wait for it to not be a fishbowl anymore. In addition, the Nokya yellows in the fogs I mentioned, throwing on an EZ Lip front lip as a temporary solution, blacking out my grille "wings", and swapping my muffler-delete turndown in place of the Moore axleback system. Then, depending on how long the weather holds out, installing a set of chrome trim fog housings, adding the optional rear wagon spoiler, dropping it on Raceland coils, and a couple underhood trinkets.

Pics to follow. : D

Fo sho. I'd do it. It matches the color of the front corner lens, so instead of looking like it's own light, it looks like a continuation of the corner. It's weird to me that since our front signals only illuminate when the signal is on, we don't actually have amber lights looking directly at the front of the car. Personally, I just like how it looks this way.

I got my new h9's installed tonight, brighter than the ones with 30k on then, but not noticeably. Not sure how much life the old ones have in them though since the glass was really hazy and the filament was crusty looking (for a lack of a better term). The lights on my Buick are still slightly brighter, that is running 9005's in all 4 spots, which in theory should be dimmer but since I removed the glare shield (I was young and dumb, I wouldn't do that now) they do project further down the road, plus they see 14v since they are wired with relays. I did test the voltage at the socket and it was 12.1v with the car off, didn't check with it running, I'm guessing it isn't the full amount though as the battery measured 12.8v

In comparison my original h11's look brand new (as they should, they had < 50 miles on them), as do my new h9's (duh). Filament and glass are flawless.

And I got my adapter harnesses installed, so removing the connector and roadside bulb changes will be a snap now :-)

Thoughts on the 17x7 Legacy GT 5-spokes on our wagons? Found a great deal on some locally. Might go that route instead of my 17x7 steelies idea. And just low-gloss black them out.

Finally got the front footwells sound proofed with mlv. I only did the vertical portion, and it made quite a bit of difference, wish I had been motivated enough 6 months ago to do it when I did the doors, hatch, hatch floor. Oh well

Next step is to make some vortex generators for the mirrors

Vortex generators? What's the purpose of this?

Adds energy to the airflow around the mirrors which should cut down on the wind noise produced by them

Gotcha, never noticed any noticeable noise coming from the mirrors while driving, only the new bug/rock deflector that whistles as I drive.
