The first pic is what the OEM guide will look like over the crank sprocket. The others are what mine looks like. The OEM should be ok if you are still within specs as specs are 1mm clearance between the giude and the belt +/- .5mm. Don't position this guide too close as it will shred the belt if improperly installed.

I don't quite know how to post pics yet, so if you can't see them, just google wrx timing belt guide.

Im doing the same swap, jdm ej205 to a udsm 02 wrx. I got a ej20t v5-6 its non avcs. So I believe i just need to switch some sensors. and use the usdm harness and ecu.
I hear some versions are an almost plug and play. some u have to change metal cam gears and sensors. some say change intake manifold also. I dont have any of the usdm engine stuff just the trans. (got the car with no ecu or engine.) Bought a jdm engine too quickly. But it was for the right price. and i already split it and am ready for the rebuild.

Ive used the jdm ej205s with avcs and without. Avcs makes the motor so much smoother. Just use the jdm ecu with it and add the wires for avcs. Its not too bad just make sure to use shielded wire. Jdm ej205 if your on a budget for the win. Ive now since moved on to a version 7 spec c motor!
