I used black and I think it looks great against the DGM. I also did it on my chrome fog bezels.

Cool! Something like the grill (I'm getting my DGM in soon!) wouldn't void any sort of warranty right? And you just unscrew it right? From inside the hood? It's not too hard?

I plastidipped my grill today:

Definitely looks good against the two tone OBP/DGM. I left the emblem and chrome around the emblem alone. Also, if you look close in the second pic, I added some eyebrows to the headlights with the PD...

I still want to do the sport grill, but my way, but until I can afford to get a spare grill, this will keep me satisfied for now.

Where are the lower clips for removing the grill? I have found the handful across the top but it still feels rather attached near the bottom...stupid question, I know, but I would still appreciate the help.

Thanks!

If you want to remove your grill, you will actually have to remove the bumper first. There are the series of pop clips on the top which you already know about. There are 4 screws and a series of 4 squeeze tabs at the bottom of the grill as well. The bumper is actually easy to remove. Doesn't take more then 10 minutes.

It does seem excessive especially since the grill on the STi can be removed without removal of the bumper. My best guess is that the way the grill is mounted to the bumper lends some structural rigidity because without it, it's pretty flimsy.

it's not hard, but a lot of work, and definitely best with a helper. I just left it all on and masked the area around it.

Looks good bro! I have the same color Impreza as you and was thinking about platic dipping my grille. Think I'm gonna do it now after seeing your pics.

Default Aftermarket Nav?

Wow this thread really had some staying power!

I read through it and didn't see anyone install an aftermarket Nav. Has anyone done this?

I looked at the Scosche and Metra sites, no kits available yet...

A nav should be the same as any radio which there is tons of people on here who did this. I put a 7 inch touch screen one into mine using the kit from Crutchfield.

I can't get over how quiet it is with no muffler... I can only imagine how restrictive the rest of the exhaust system is

That video doesn't really do it justice. It's definitely louder than with muffler, but also more rumble. I'm getting my turndown welded up today, and I will try and post some video as well, but it's hard to get the sound on video with wind noise and other road noise.

IMHO the exhaust minus the muffler sounds like Chewbaccas mating call but the sound could be tuned with a baffle. Did it make any difference in accelleration/decelleration/economy? Normally small cc engines like back pressure so the cats may be enough but if it isn't you would notice less decel when you let off the gas.

I think thats more of an old wives tale. Ive never seen any dyno runs where they have proved it loses low end hp.

I've noticed no change in mpg or power, just picked up some of the familiar Subaru sound. It still has the resonator in there, I'm curious to see how it sounds without that.

And as far as back pressure it doesn't apply to new cars with an ecu and fuel injection what not.

Just a tip for anyone looking to do the muffler delete: Get at least a 60 degree bend in the tip. I got a 45 degree bend, and started to melt the rear bumper... so, now I am ordering 90 degree bend (the next bend size that CRMB offers) pipe tonight and redoing the delete.

resonator delete is probably the way to go if you don't want it so loud and nice rumble.

A couple of thoughts: wait until someone wrecks a limited and buy the mirrors from a junkyard, or eBay. That is where I found mine.

A bunch of us did this for our 08-11 models and the skeleton of the mirror is the same for us, signal or no. It's only the cover and the LED that are different. Get a 2012 service manual and take a look. Then you can order the parts from your dealer or an online parts retailer and figure out how ot hook them up. You may have to get the covers painted.

There is a phenomenal how-to thread on 3gwrx.com in the DIY section for converting to signal mirrors on the 08-11 models that should help point the way. You can either wire them into your existing harness, which takes some wire-mapping and extra work, or just run one wire to a ground and the second into the car to your signal relay.

I used the existing wire harness because I was also doing a JDM power-fold coversion and I had to get into the wiring anyway.

Hey guys, new to the forums.
I have a 2012 Black Impreza Sport Limited.
I had a Magnaflow installed last weekend. Sounds pretty good. Not too loud. I'll try to get a vid soon.
Also, does anyone know what size the factory sway bars are? My friend replaced his sways from his 2012 STI and I was gonna see if there was a difference.

I didn't buy the radio from Crutchfield I got it from amazon but it was a Sony xav 72bt. I did buy an install kit from Crutchfield though for like $20. Just type your car info into their search thing and the dash install kit should come up. Also they will tell you which radios are guaranteed to fit and if you buy from there it comes with the kit for free.

Hey guys, here is the vid link of my 12 with a Magnaflow muffler. Sound is a little distorted from a cheap camera.
