Default Why are car rentals in Den so expensive?

Im going to ColoRADo in Aug for a friends wedding and I need some wheels. When I went to San Diego I had a "standard" rental for 25/day. Cheapest I've found was 47/day for a Kia Rio. Budget is saying that same Kia would be 97/day. Why?? Oh and I thought this was funny when I found a compact for cheap and clicked on it:
