Default Pics of Homemade air deflector/splitter

splitter out of car:

Notes: My intercooler sits pretty far back. By bending the section in front of the top bulge instead of cutting it out, I was able to create a nice shelf which comes right up to the bottom edge of the intercooler core. The total open area in the rear half of the splitter is cut by the mounting tabs for the scoop. This doesn't affect cooling I think and I have no plans to cut the stock hood at all. I made the width of the openings just big enough for my core. I still have to rivet in the rubber spacers. I think I'll try some of the stock WRX material which I have lying around. The turbo, is now running hotter and heat soaking the intercooler more. Not a problem when the car is moving. I'll have to wrap the turbo to minimize underhood heat. Intercooler temps stays about 2 degrees cooler on average and cools the intercooler faster, as much as 20 seconds faster in one particular run. Measured using a TEC3 MAT sensor, with and without the splitter. This is good considering the excellent efficiency I already get with this intercooler, I normally see 3-5 degrees C difference from ambient while cruising.

I've actually got a few more backing plates around here... What size and location is your intercooler?

This sucker is really working. I'm finding bugs squished into the fins now. This is after a year of driving with no bugs at all!

I have one of those RS backing plates if anyone needs it. Or maybe I can mod it, do you have step by step pics?
