Question Sway bar questions

First of all I did a search, but it didn't give me definitive answers.
I was speaking to an experienced suspension guy here in Sydney and he recommends a 22mm front sway bar and a 24 mm rear sway bar for my WRX. I have standard springs and shocks. Has anyone here have any opinions on this set up? I want to reduce understeer, but I don't want it to be loose either. I don't want any huge lift off oversteer dramas. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. oh.. and by the way.. he said adjustable ones are a waste cause once you put it in, there is no need to adjust it anyway..

As far as the Adlustable thing goes he's full of crap. I've changed mine several times to gain a better understanding of what it does to handling. Als, when you put a new suspension on you may want to adjust it some more.

My gut instinct is that sounds like a bit much for a stock suspension but perhaps on the new age WRX it would be ok

The rear bar he is recommending to larger than most of us run, but he also suggested upgrading the front bar, so that is good.

I would give it a try, but I would look at the adjustable rear bar. This will allow you to tailor the understeer/oversteer characteristics of the car for your driving style. What would be easier, moving the endlink mount or mounting a new bar? Not to mention cost.

Good luck and happy driving.

This is a good combination for giving you neutral steering with some oversteer. It's approximately equivalant to running 19mm front with a 20mm rear as far as balance front to rear. The combination he suggested will give you flatter turns enabling you to corner faster than the 19mm - 20mm combination.

Adrian,

I just had the following whiteline gear installed (2 Days ago) and all i can say is "wow", the car no only looks meaner but feels awesome and a lot easier to drive hard round the tight stuff and im no shumacher.

I had a 22mm fixed front bar, 24mm adjustable rear bar (set on 24mm at moment),heavy duty mount kit and links front and back, lowered springs and front strut brace.

the stuff was fairly well priced

cheers,

Scott Cruse
