2015 WRX Boomba short throw shifter
The install took roughly 2 hours. Having done short shift installs on a celica, 240sx and rx8 in the past. This was the hardest. In the end it was well worth the time that was put in. The combination of the perrins bushing, perrin shift stop and boomba short throw shifter makes the shifts noticeably crisper, more precise and of course shorter. The only down side is the reverse lockout doesn't always drop down, so I have to consciously remember to have it in the right position before getting in 6th gear. Maybe I didn't lube it enough? lol

probably an easy adjustment of the shifter stop, you need to play with it alittle to get the least play while still getting the drop.

Your reverse lockout doesn't return to normal after use???!!!!! that's a pretty big issue. Did you ever resolve this? I was just about to order but this freaks me out a bit. |

This is something that should not be happening. When removing the car from reverse the collar should be dropping down on its own. Is this something you ever got sorted out?

I've been researching better shifter options. So far I've come to the conclusion that the stock sti shifter is the way to go. Also I could see how the shift stop would help. I'll be upgrading soon. I'd like to know how this shifter compares to the oem sti shifter. I don't drive hard or shift fast. I just want a cleaner smoother less sloppy feel. Looking at keeping the stock shift knob. I had clutch issues taken care of under warranty and during inspection found 2nd shift fork was damaged. Shifter would bounce around during acceleration and deceleration in 2nd. Never noticed it in first. I believe my issues came from a faulty clutch master cylinder but wonder if the shifter had something to do with it as well. 1st and 2nd are sloppy compared to 3-6+R. I'm at 37k. Work was done at 33k
