Just heard back from Pioneer of Canada, if this works I may have the mother of all drop in stock radio options for our model year.

AVIC-9310BT may turn out to be plug and play with a proprietary harness, I will find out in a few weeks.

Well was getting a good deal, the douchebags after taking my money and arguing with me about that its not going to fit my car called back and told me that if I still wanted to buy the radio it would be $400 now. They said they know this radio is hot and that because it takes the backup camera $200 isn't enough. What scumbags. They confirmed the price then try to get $200 more when they probably saw this thread. G&R auto parts has one of the non sat impreza versions for $400 plus shipping if anyone wants it. They are dicks to deal with so be forewarned

That sucks. I remember being able to find thse for $150-$200 shipped and thought they were too expensive for what they arre. Then this thread got popular and that changed everything. All the sellers suddenly know this one is a rare/high desired item and jack up the price like crazy.

Yep, I like the idea of having it, but not for $425. My sound quality is already very good, that much plus $20 for the harness and then another $99 for a camera is a no go

No one has checked if the sub outputs work on the China unit yet? I've been holding out on buying this for over a month hoping someone would confirm.

I've been wanting to get a camera for my Fujitsu Ten OEM unit. But I'm way too lazy to wire that thing haha. I even got the harness from SVXdc to make it a lot easier.

My method for getting a screen saver to be full sized.

I took a 4912 x 3264 photo and stretched it to 5760 x 3840 on my computer. These are the maximum specs the radio would accept. I then selected to have the picture set in widescreen (set this during the picture download process). I found that having the screen set to widescreen/normal in the settings had no effect, I leave it in widescreen anyway.

I have already heard "there is no way the screen is 5760 x 3840" ... well it works so

You are confusing resolution with aspect ratio. 5760x3840 is a resolution, this is saying your image is 5760 pixels wide by 3840 pixels tall. That is a **** load of pixels, and is a very high resolution. Your standard 1080 p TV is 1920x1080. I highly doubt this junky little radio has 3 times the resolution if a modern TV.

Why that image size does work however is it is the same aspect ratio of the screen. Take 5760 and divide by 3840 and you get 1.5, or 3:2. That reads as "a ratio of three to two." For every 3 pixels horizontal you have 2 pixels vertical. I bet that if you shrunk that image down to 480x320 that it would still be a full screen image. This is because 480 divided by 320 is a 3:2 aspect ratio just like your massive image you are using.

The resolution of this screen is most likely HVGA which is 480x320. This is the lowest 3:2 ratio i could find. It will always be a 3:2 aspect ratio. Any multiple of 3:2 will get you a full screen image.

I may be selling my 86201SC430 European (eBay) version soon. Depends on if the Canadian AVIC-x9310bt is plug and play with the Pioneer harness or not.

That's the china market radio I see all the time. Really want the HD radio but if you do get rid of it let me know, I'd consider it for sure

FYI the eBay units from China have really fast shipping. I was expecting 1-2 weeks, but this is quicker than some domestic things I've ordered. Its on the delivery truck now.

Ill post later if the preamp outputs work.

Heard that too, my concern is the signal quality on radio, not that I use it much but if its worse than what I already have it will make me mad. The HD channels would be nice but isn't a deal breaker for me. I use aux for a portable Sirius unit and Bluetooth mostly

How do these sellers get all these radios?

As long as it gets here soon enough for me to install it today, I'll try to make a comparison and post thoughts later.

Yeah, and it'll probably look better if you use Photoshop or similar to resize the 5760x3840 image to 480x320, because it can use an advanced resizing algorithm to save 'proper' data for the 480x320 image, rather than just throwing out every nth pixel until it fits on the screen (I sincerely doubt the HU has a bicubic resizing algorithm built-in.)

sure does, but only we (Subaru guys seeking this radio) are to blame. If nobody would pay the 400+ these sellers ask then they'd obviously have no choice but sell for less.

probably mostly lurkers paying mega prices for these I'll admit I searched around a bit a while back but no joy.

Got the mother of all plug and play radios working in my '11 STI. Sourced a AVIC-X9310BT from a wrecked Nissan and ordered the Pioneer to Subaru cable from Canada.

Got a thread going to document all the steps to make this a clean install.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2526532

Testing it out before I clean up all the wiring. Simple plug and play. Steering wheel controls work perfectly, center console USB and Audio are moved to the glove box. I will probably hack them back into the center console. Also need to wire up the separate BT mic included with the system.

Holy crapsticks on a stick, this thing was packaged to go to the moon and back. Metric crapton of bubble wrap and foam, but I'd rather it be that way anyway.

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE: Amp turn on wire and line level (subwoofer) outputs work great on the China unit. Measured 12V on the remote wire and 20-70mV on the preamp outputs depending on the volume.

As far as FM quality, I found no reduction coming from the old unit. I did adjust the bass, mids, and treble to my liking however.

Only complaint so far is the lack of the talking lady for bluetooth menus. There is a volume option for the voice, but turning it up does nothing for the talking. It shows what she should be saying on the screen, but I'd prefer to not have to take my eyes off the road.

And I scratched my bezel >

Default Question about HU PF-3304B-A and OEM sub

ive searched and couldn't find the setup I was thinking on going with.

I purchased PF-3304B-A for my 2013 wrx base w/o nav

I was looking at getting the underseat sub for the 2013 wrx part number-- H630SFG500

will this work with the overseas radio if the harness comes with the OEM sub?

I am just looking for some full sound and keeping a clean OEM look, also trunk space is a plus!

shame on me if I searched and didn't find this topic
