The Inspire was a good phone a while back, but honestly I think it'd be worth it to spend a few bucks for the GS2.

This x 33 1/3. The inspire is the 3GS of Android. Why would you grab a new 2 year contract on an obsolete smartphone when there are dozens of newer / faster / bigger phones on the market?

The Skyrocket is $179 on AmazonWireless. This is almost the same spec as the Galaxy Nexus, with LTE that will work today in the DFW area (one of AT&T's few LTE markets so far).

The Galaxy S2 is $99. Great non LTE phone, but getting a little old. $99 is a fair price but for $80 the Skyrocket is a massive upgrade and you'll be able to sell it for a lot more when your next contract is up.

The Atrix 2 is $49. It's a good phone, much improved over the Atrix 1, but a notch or so below the GS2.

c/n: Dude, Skyrocket.

if you're tired of the iphone/apple/itunes, the inspire should be good. cell data was faster, more customizable, etc...

for me it was a matter of free vs $150 to replace my iphone. I have an iPad, Mac air, MacBook pro, etc... so iphone is a no brainer really. and I know ios pretty well. learning htc sense wasnot too difficult, just different.

I probably would have liked the inspire a whole lot more if apple hadn't contacted me later that week offering to replace my phone.

Not only is it now $100 more than I paid on AmazonWireless, but it's not even available.

I'm glad I didn't wait!

What do you use for music transfer and syncing? really haven't any idea how it all works.
it's cake. just have iTunes consolidate your music to one folder if it's already not. drag that folder into your new phones storage on your pc or mac. done

Any of you guys using the new Elixir, called Elixir 2? Seems like its two separate apps now, one for the program and one for the widget.

Works fine on mine. Uninstall and reinstall. If it didn't download all the game files in one swoop it seemed wonky.

Giving that a try now, we'll see how it goes. Otherwise the phone still kicks ass other than the reduced battery life compared to my previous phone. I like finding all the little stuff I can do, like folders on the home page and stuff. Just found out about that by accident last night

Update: Reinstalled, game works flawlessly now.

Is SetCPU still the go-to standard for over/underclocking? Or is there a better app out there now?

Even better, my dad had given me a $200 visa gift card for Christmas.

You GN guys tried the camera trick? When you take your phone off the charger, load the camera then close it. It's supposed to close a battery bug.

I'm at 90% after 4hrs6min with 30min screen time.

So over the past few days I tried out 3 different ROMs on my phone (work is slow this time of year) and settled on one that I liked best, and it was one that I'd used before. Today my battery only lasted about 12hrs, which is far less than I got in the past, and I couldn't figure out why.

Then it struck me... so I turned to my 5yr old son who was beside me and said "I know why my battery life was so bad, after I flashed my custom ROM I forgot to go back and flash my undervolting kernel and adjust my screen-off CPU frequencies and governor!"

My son looks at me and says: "Duh!"

Been lurking this thread for a year and has been priceless for androids tips and tricks so i decided to join up.
I just made the switch from ipad and iPhone to the galaxy 10.1 and GS2 and all I can say is apple are the most overated products out there.
Even my MacBook pro is obsolete now, the 10.1 does everything I need.

My gs2 is a little buggy and has trouble pushing for data, whats app messages come 20 mins to a hour after they were sent to me. The 10.1 is instantanious with push
I did a factory reset and its still the same but battery life has improved now I lost some useless apps.
I was advised to try a firmware update via kies but my phone isn't available for upgrades for some reason and I'm stuck on 2.3.3 when others are up to 2.3.6

I'm a noob so please suggest me on how to get this gs2 to receive data as it comes.
Most annoying when urgent emails and instant messaging come up to an hour late.
