Default Whats needed for 300whp in a WRX?

What setup do you guys recommend for a streetable 300 whp wrx? Maybe you can post your mods and dyno sheets for those of you that have attained 300whp. Also some reviews of the setup would be nice.

Thanks in advance,
Danny,

300WHP is a lot for a street driven car. You're not going to be able to atain that without upgrading your turbo. Most people have done so by going with Vishnu Stage 2 or TurboXS Stage 4 setups. You can read more about them here: www.vishnutuning.com and www.turboxs.com respectively.

yeah I realixe that those numbers are impossible with the stock turbo, I was just wondering which turbo and other mods necessary to achieve those power goals.

Are we talking 300WHP that will last 6 months, or are we talking 300WHP that will last 5 years?

Simple if you ask me. Both these guys are pretty reliable. From here you could do a build up of a shortblock, forged everything..

I understand by getting a closed deck design block with better rods and pistons is the way to go for that kind of power. But honestly for blocks like the v7 that kind of power is nothing. I mean 300 whp in a stock block is whats in question here. I want a reliable 300 whp setup out of the stock usdm ej20. I know its attainable. When I get there and something breaks after a couple of months or years then I will get a built short block from Axis. So how do you make 300whp. Whats the recipe?

TXS stage 4 - and have it dynoed on a Dynojet

On a more serious note, a TXS stage 4 tuned with water/alcohol injection will get you 300whp

My advice is to go with something other than a VF series if you want to make 300whp and have it last.

I know of a car that made 355whp (FWD) but thats an "extreme" case and on a DSM. Don't expect to slap a 16g on your car and pump out 300 plus.

my custom TXS stage 4 w/ 1820 and TXS top mount on 93 octane yielded 318 whp. So yes it is possible with a Stage 4. I have seen VF30's w/ stage 4 on 93 octane in the low 300's as well, it's all in the tuning.

Where in the compressor map is that VF30 running while making 300whp?

i think with trubo xs stage 4+fmic+ some little mods like pullies, gt-spec headers, you would be able to hit 300, but im not sure if the vf30 will allow you to do that. Maybe if you run higer boost than yea, but with 17 psi, i dont think so.

Piece of cake. I made 311 whp and drove it everyday in that form and at that boost level. I had a PE1818F and was using hand picked components. Dyno tuning is a must at that power level though.

You say 311WHP, but look close at the top of the dyno graph. It says FLYWHEEL HP.

Are you going to believe what GOD tells you or some heading at the top of the graph?

I'm sure the graph is mislabeled. I'm not sure how you could reasonably accurately graph flywheel horse on a chassis dyno anyway, since there is no universally accepted driveline loss %. I believe Dan has estimated his flywheel horsepower around 390...hence his signature.

It really was 311awhp. TXS dyno sheets say the samething but it is really awhp.

It's 311 or the EJ20 makes 168 at the flywheel.

VF30's hitting low 300's is part tuning but a bigger part dynojet. You wont see much over 250 on a dyno dynamics with a VF30.

If you're looking for 300whp on pump gas, you need to look for something bigger than a VF30. The difference between a properly tuned VF30 stage4 car and a similar car with a turbo that can realistically hit 300whp like an AVO450 is HUGE. Don't believe the hype!

Here you go:

So, 303 AWHP and 290 trq on 93 octane. Also note that I maintain a high level of HP from 5400 rpm all the way to redline.
Got this thanks to the tuning of RiftsWRX.
This is with a PE1820, PE650s and all the regular supporting mods.
See my sig for the full list.
