I tried to get a Protune with A SPT intake and I was told it just can't be done. I have an 08 Outback XT. I had to put my stock box back on.

Anyone interested in buying a used SPT catback for an 08 hatchback. I can't post it in the classifieds yet because I haven't posted 3 times yet. I'm looking to get $275 plus shipping. I know it's not much off what they were from the dealership but from what I've heard everyone is now selling them for full MSRP. I'm in NH and willing to trade aswell, the SPT just isn't loud enough for me. Other than that its still a great exhaust, I'd love to do local pick-up or am willing to meet someone within reason. If your interested just PM me or email me at [email protected] Thanks

My new clutch is being shipped right now, I'm pretty sure this one will stand up to what I'm going to throw at it. After the clutch install, I'll be ordering an Access Port and then Protuning it. Beyond that I think I will address the suspenision wheels and tires. Then I should be satisfied. Lol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. "strict warranty criteria" really just depends on the dealer you take it to. it's not a subaru-wide thing in my experience. also, i'd probably tell the service manager you'll be buying your next car from a different dealer, and not bringing this one in for service anymore. i don't really get why dealers don't understand how easy it is to take your business elsewhere. |

Yeah mine is up to 36k (08) As for your 'warranty being voided' I beleive they only void one part of your warranty when you make the claim. So if you have a dp and your engine fails, they will void the warranty on the engine. But if you have a dp and your having some rust on some outside trim, that would still be covered under warranty. Having a dp wont affect your paint.

LOL! Yeah, i was cosidering going to a different dealership. It honestly made no sense to me how they could void a drivetrain warranty when the drivetrain was never modded.

Well, they could say by putting the downpipe on, you are getting more power...and driving harder.... so you are putting more stress on the clutch than stock. Weak, but I bet that would be their logic.

I'm still wondering when the SPT exhausts for the sedan are going to start shipping out...

Yours is $700, SPT is less than $300. I think I'll wait it out

But is it really that important? Considering everything I heard about these turbos needing a little backpressure (ie overboost issues with non-catted 3" DP's), I don't think a 2.5" mid-section would affect performance that much (at least enough to warrant an extra $400 over the SPT catback). If anything, it should allow running a catless DP with no overboost concerns but I don't even know the 2.5" would even restrict enough for that. I think a lot of people assume bigger must mean better, but I'd be interested to see side-by-side dynos with SPT vs a similar 3" setup. Also note, the 2.5" section is relatively a straight shot....the bends are 3". Not knocking your product at all Adam...I'm sure it is top knotch. Just thought I'd start a discussion on the facts behind why the 2.5" mid-section of the SPT would produce significantly less HP than if it had a 3" mid-section. Personally, I don't think I'd see much gain at all but I can't back that up until I get a dyno in my garage |

you are a little correct in that a smaller exhaust may not make a huge difference in HP at redline, but for sure at low RPM where the turbo is trying to spool a bigger ehxaust is better.
How about this. Our Exhaust for the HB are starting to ship, and we are throwing our car on the dyno today to do some STage 2 and CAtback exhaust tests. I will compare these to a customer who we tuned at our open house a few weeks back. This customer had that SPT exhaust. I will load his map on the car and run them back to back. While this will not be a perfect back to back test of the SPT exhaust, if there is a difference in power, we will let you know! |
