In my opinion, the first things out cars need is a stage 1 tune. The company I told you about is www.torquedperformance.com. I have a Tactrix and we can flash it over. Put Cobb out of business for the APs. Waste of money!

Second on the list is handling. Even though they stiffened it up in the 09-10, and moreso in the '11s, there is still a good amount of sway. Get yourself some good springs/ strut combo, or if you're going to track it, coilovers. No, ricer, that doesn't necessarily mean you're lowering it. There's more to life than low.

Depending on what you do there, buy a sway bar, endlinks and some braces.

For the ricer in you, buy an oil cap and battery tie down and call it a day.

Then for god sakes, upgrade that puny stereo! Sound deaden the car and get yourself a small sub and nice head unit. The head unit makes a HUGE difference.

If I missed any points here, someone feel free to jump in.

EDIT: Gootz, I talked to you about a little of this last night. It's a bit different for your model, but same general concepts. There are much more areas that need improved on the blobeye WRX than post '08.

speaking of sound deadening... do you still think sound deadening a TR is a good idea? I do. If you'd ever like to pretend your old car is still the bomb, you can practice on mine. I will pay you in food and adoration.

Sound deadening is meticulous. I love you, but I'm only willing to take that time and effort for the benefit of my own car. I hope you understand that. Maybe after doing mine, if I discover I enjoy doing it, I may help work on it, but from everything I know about it now, it's very time consuming and takes a whole lot of effort. Unless of course we are talking just the trunk. Then, I'm willing to help more.

I watch the 12 people I work with have all types of issues with their iPhones which pushed me away, along with the 3 shuffles, 1 nano, 1 iPod photo, 1 iPod classic, 2 iPod touches and 1 iPad (1st gen) that all broke within a year.

...and I can't stand iTunes and tranfers and format converting which the droid stuff doesn't require.

I've had 2 iPhones and now an iPad and never had a single problem. I still use my OG iPhone as an iPod.

I'll bring the cable tomorrow, but do you have a laptop we can use? Mine crapped out on me. We will have to download ECUflash, which is simple. Go buy a map and do some research. Don't just foolishly flash something over, know what you're flashing.

Yes, I had rattle issues with my endlinks. The RSB is fine, I just put the stock links back on since I won't be seeing any mountains or curvy roads for a while. When summer comes back around, I will order some stationary links. I'll never get adjustables again. More hassle than they're worth.

Spring/ strut combo is simple and you won't have noise issues. THe noises come when you slam the car. Staying relatively stock height or within an inch you'll be fine. Unless of course you install them improperly.

You'll get over it one day! It gets old after a while. I like my quiet car. Even if I go stage 2, it will be with the quietest catback I can find. The negative attention is annoying.

What if we do like we did with the powersteering belt. You point, I do the work? Lol. If I deaden this car myself, I will have a silent WRX that weighs as much as a G8.

I do this. Then I think I hear my lifter going bad, turbo squealing (it really has though, dang viaducts, walls and tunnels), noisey gearbox, A/C chirping (does this for reelz yo), improperly sealed windshield letting air in. then I turn up the stereo and zone out to Scrillex or Deadmau5.

While I'm irritated with how iTunes works between formats, I have only had problem with the 80GB ipod video (Apple should apologize for that abomination) and my Macs getting over burdened with too much stuff and thus getting slower than molasses. Last night, it took me forever to get anything done on mine. It think it's giving me the Apple finger.

As far as I am concerned, all things Apple are awesome.

I meant that more of researching the maps you buy. you reflected with a generic OTS map from a company who has had years of R&D. Going with these maps is different. This is a guy that does it like a normal mechanic, as he sees fit. Make sure you trust his judgement. The wrong map could blow your motor. Just ask Kegbuster. The flash is easy, it's the maps you have to trust.

There are a few companies who have stationary endlinks. I haven't researched them yet to make recommendations.

And new suspension does not mean lower. These aren't civic part companies. You can upgrade for function without dropping the car. The stock struts and springs suck.

Mike, an excellent read on swaybars. This is the guy I buy everything from. Geoff is a great guy. Chris G has done business with him for years and highly recommended him to me a while back.

EDIT: for those local, I am referencing a different Chris G than the one that shows to meets here in VB.

That's Charles G you're thinking of. I do believe MAIC has a Chris G though.

For just the stage 1 map? I paid $60 just a few months ago. Must have increased his rate.

Na, it must be the Chris G in MAIC I see. I remember when I moved here I PM'ed Chris G on Pirates and assured him there was only 1 Chris G in my heart. He said this is the only site he's ever been on where his screen name was taken, and now I know why!

Ouch. Guess he went up. Still worth it IMO considering you get a map for each intake if you change and he will revise if you need it after looking at your datalogs. Most other places are around $60 or so. Maybe I paid that and just don't remember. He came highly recommended by a guy I know very well in Colorado that does dyno tunes for nearly everyone in the state.
