That may be true, and if a failure does occur on a bone stock car, then Subaru should have to replace/repair it. But if you decide to take things into your own hands and make the car "better", then you should also be willing to take on the responsibility of funding any repair if it is needed.

By modifying a car, and then trying to claim warranty work, you are screwing over all the people that actually have stock cars and have an issue, because Subaru has begun to expect that failures are caused by modifications and then "covered up" by people who want a fix for free.

And this is the exact reason I have a built shortblock ready to go for when the stock one fails. I don't expect them to warranty my engine. I knew from the get go what I was getting into. The problem is you have people that don't plan for the block to go. And they have no savings. So when they did x number of mods and the engine blows they don't have the 5K to put in a new one. (assuming a shop installs it)

If their are that many people "getting away with it" than Subaru wouldn't know that they were, (hints "getting away with it") and in turn wouldn't have any reason to be suspicious. These cars are commonly modded is why they are suspicious, not because of unjustified warranty claims.

Getting away with it reflects in their books under warranty expenses. They see the cost of that shoot up they will become stricter on warranty and they will look into why it shot up. We did this last year and it's no different for them

I think one thing that is overlooked is the fact that the stock tune is crap on these cars, which is from what I understand is due to EPA not Subaru. Either way, I'm not keeping the stock tune to have a clear conscience. It reminds me of the rx8 issues where if you follow the manufacturers service requirements you end up with a motor that will get you through your warranty period but you end up with a (long term) unreliable car, not worth it IMO. You are right, I will not change my mind, just some friendly debating, I am a master debater.
This is true my last wrx was stage 2 and it drove so much better. The stock tune is pure ****!!!! I fucjing hate it. But if it breaks it gets fixed for free. Thats why my plans are to buy a motor out of a totaled Sti or wrx and build it on the side. That way if something goes wrong i have the stock motor to fall back on but by the time im done building the motor it should be bullet proof haha

But back on topic Subaru needs to provide an upgraded tune that's covered under warranty or just issue a recall and flash our CPUs to fix our ****ing cars. My car is bone stock and it drives like ****. This topic will continue for years!!

But im going to end it right now With two options

1 Leave your car alone and deal with the ****ty tune that's covered under warranty
2 take matters into your own hands including repairs and say goodbye to your warranty.

ha! Yeah...I said that kind of short. I wasn't trying to sound like one either. It's all good.

But...yeah actually they do. They read our local Atlanta board for a long time and when cars would go in for service...the SOA reps would already know everything about it.

Not that it really matters. My theory of mod at your own risk always applies anyway. I just thought it was interesting that they follow what goes on here and other places even if they aren't active. It is just another one of those...if you don't want people to know...don't put it on the internet.

It's not just modding, the warranty also doesn't cover damage incurred while participating in a competition event, poor or improper maintenance, unauthorized parts, unauthorized repair facility, abuse, neglect, or damage caused by the environment. So, from my perspective, SOA holds all the cards anyway.

I really want to like it. Honestly. It's cheap and it seems like their quality is decent. I just can't stand the design. It looks so unfinished. It seems perfectly within their capability to design and make something I would really like, but it doesn't look like they have any interest in that...

I am in the same boat for what it is worth. I guess I am just going to have to pony up and get the Varis...

I'm not really in the market for it anyways. I didn't even buy my cheap-o front lip. Got it donated to me I wouldn't mind spiffing up the looks of my car, but the Varis is a bit too crazy for my liking. It looks good with full aero, but not on it's own.

Mainly, I'm just kind of disappointed that HT doesn't make a better looking diffuser. It wouldn't cost them any more, or be any more work. It would just be a different design, that doesn't look home made after it's installed. You could almost just buy the HT and trim those straight cut, sticking out parts and it would look 10x better. But a proper design wouldn't be hard at all.

i for the life of me dont understand the cheap plastic molding crap and the visible exterior mounts. people are OBVIOUSLY willing to pay for it even if it's marginally less than the varis.

and then people go nuts from the add on stuff they make for the sedan, ITS JUST STRAIGHT PIECES OF PLASTIC. there is no form to them, they add nothing. we must be losing our minds or asking too much because no one else says a thing to them
