You just need a file for the US ECU and a file for the JDM ecu. You the file on the US ecu and the car will pass OBD2 inspection. Then if you choose, You can install the JDM ECU and the matching file for that ecu and you are all set. Most keep two ecu's. Its not two full tunes.

Yes. Do you have a Tactrix cable? If so, not hard at all...

sure, I can probably get access to one. Any thread or tutorial on how to do this? It would be appreciated thanks.

How is your rear diff, did you end up figuring out was wrong with your car?

no you can just flash back and forth. you need to get it tuned esp. the tgvs on ur wrx engine are used for avcs on the jdm engine so that is prob a ton of codes to start. driv eit there with the jdm ecu and swap ecu's there. just leave the carpet pulled up. takes 5 min to do.

The car will fail if the ecu has not cycled so I need to drive it a bit before I do the emission. If I can flash the wrx ecu to throw no codes and run safely with my motor at home and not have to flat bed the car to get a tune that would be a lot better. Emission laws just changed recently here in Ontario and I never had to inquire or research about this part of the swap..

well then get a tactrix and change it. there are way too many tables to change for us to just say do this this and this and it will be fine. you spent this much on the engine. throw some cash on the table for a tune dude. someone local must be able to tune it for you to get it to pass for 100-200 dollars. a small expense should not be a problem with a sports car.

I hate ppl who ask me for a discount on a tune since they are short on cash. I already charge half the price of a shop and spend way more time on it. Not trying to be a dick but if you cant afford a tune to run the engine should have went with a ej205 and been good to go and have money left for repairs or a vf series swap on it.

in the last message i ment to say " no you can't just flash back and forth" yeah rough correction mod only takes a min or less for the car to get out of and be in normal driving conditions.

I can afford to tune, but I already have a tuned JDM ECU but I can't use that JDM ECU to pass an emissions, and until I pass emissions I can't drive to car on public roads. I was just curious if I could save $1000 worth of flat bedding and tuning and my time by somehow transferring the tune onto the WRX ECU, or downloading one off the net and then flashing the WRX ECU so the car can limp on over to an emission test and pass. I have no idea about this sort of stuff, never have played with a tactrix cable yet. I didn't think it is necessary to get a full dyno tune; I just need it to be driveable and pass emissions, not run 12's in the 1/4 mile. Aren't there maps that you online you can download? Kind of like a COBB mapp? I want to take the car to innovative tuning in buffalo and that means crossing the border with a car on a flatbed... just a really huge ****ing inconvenience i would love to avoid if I could.

I apologize if I know next to nothing about tuning and ECUs but I have no experience in this department and I just want to get my car on the road.

What year WRX ecu do you have? If 04-05, I can send you a map to flash that is scaled for the pinks that has the codes disabled.

Doing 1-2 maps a day means that took most of the days between the last update and now. This morning was the first map that wasn't having a massive spike anywhere. Spikes to 20 psi are definitely slipping the clutch, but once it settled back down the clutch would hold again.

13-14 psi is not slipping. I'm targeting 14 psi, but don't have quite enough max WGDC to keep that up at high RPM on my current ROM. ~280 TQ / 300 HP airboy with 13.2 psi at 300 HP area. For reference, the 18G at 20-22 psi was 300 TQ / 310 HP on the EJ205 using the same road, software, and weight / tire / gear settings. Lower than what I expected for the 18g for sure. My EJ205 never put out top numbers, was around 280 Tq / 265 HP on the TD04 / E85 @ 20ish psi. Right now at 13-14 psi on E85, my EJ207 is above my old EJ205 91 octane / TD04 @ 20psi line at every RPM. and it's only lower than the 18G line where the 18G was running 6-8 pounds more boost.

I'm hitting 280 g/s and getting a little close to the 300 g/s limit, so next I'll tackle converting my current map to Carberry to get away from that flow limit. On the 18g I did a MAf re-scale to give me room, but I might hit the MAFv limit on this turbo, and I want to learn Carberry anyway, so I'll be doing that. It may take some time before you see a 16-20 psi plot as a result of learning SD tuning.

Also, I didn't measure how quick it comes into boost at speed on the 18g, but if I cruise on the freeway in 3rd, it's like 4800RPM. It goes from vac to 14psi in about 500 ms with the EFR. It sure feels quicker to get back in boost than the 18G did, but I have no real data supporting that.

20+psi isn't going to happen until I decide to replace my clutch. I may be able to slowly taper it up to 20psi at 7000 to see what kind of peak power that would result in though. It was slipping from the high rate of change in torque at boost onset when I had spikes up to 20psi because of my inexperience tuning the 3-port. It may be able to hold smoother torque changes at high RPM... we'll see. It sure seems like 360 airboy at 20psi is within the range of possibility based on ~300 HP at under 14psi.
Awesome! I am considering the 6758 but since that is currently out of stock I am now considering moving up to the 7064 and going rotated. People seem to really enjoy 30r's on 207s and the 7064 seems comparable. However I am really liking the idea of the 6758 in the interest of quicker spool. I can't decide. I guess I'm just waiting to see what numbers you are able to put down with the 6758 Any news?

wheres the original 92x ecu? my guess it would be the best baseline ecu to use in your case since it matches the chassis harness exactly

Very interested in a V8 and talking with a vendor now. I was sent pictures and the timing cover is broke but the vendor assured me he will replace it and will give me a newer (the original is fubar'd) TMIC. I searched for broken timing covers in this thread and came up with a few and most said it shouldnt be a big deal. Compression test yielded 130psi and he said he will send a video tomorrow. Anything else I should be concerned with or ask?

Pics.

Also ignore the DP in the background, it is off a V7 and will be receiving a twinscroll one

^^ broken timing belt cover is very common on these motors. As long as the cam gear is good and wasn't damaged (looks OK on the pic)... you're fine. Mine had it too, so we took my buddy's worn out BMW "roundel" emblem and some black gorilla tape... and you can't even tell now

Also, ask for the ECU code, to make sure it's matching and not a v9 one (immobilized).

Top Mount intercooler bracket looks extremely bent. Mine was to but not that bad. My motor came missing power steering pulley, throttle body sensor and some wires pulled loose from a main harness connector.

Don't let the little thing's diswade you though.

This I recommend

Plugs
Timing belt and pulleys
Water pump/thermostat
Oil change
Company32 cam lock
Iap avcs wiring harness.

My timing belt came with a notice about the belt rub issue people have talked about. Also came with a plastic red tool to space the belt from the belt guide.

well the saab uses 04/05 wrx ecu's so that wont make a diff for the saab vs subaru.

idk how you plan to flash the car w/o a tactrix. you can log with the cheap vag coms but need a tactrix to flash the vehicle.

Called a local subaru specific shop and he has a wrx ecu with a tune specific for the ej207 to pass emissions. No need to buy a ECU anymore, thanks for the help though guys

Yeah, lined up for immediate install I have(most are for longevity and reliability)..

Killer B oil pickup
Timing belt/idlers
Walboro fuel
Whitebugeye wiring harness
Turbo Inlet
Custom welded catless DP
K/N Typhoon
E-Tune

Hopefully around 290-300whp is attainable with a conservative tune

Nice. I'm trying to decide my next move. I see what Clark says.

Thinking:
Tomei turbo inlet
Injectors
Fuel pump
Another
