actually, iirc, if doc fees are charged to one person at a dealership, everyone has to pay it. federal law and all that. (so i'm told)

^ That's what I was told by my salesman. However he also said they could work something out by reducing the price in my invoice to cancel out the fee. I paid for mine since I really couldn't get them to take it off no matter how I talk to them and they gave me the best price around here unless I want to drive 2-3 hours away. At least they gave me all the accessories at invoice so I guess that cancels it out.

Doc fees are mandated by the state. Some states don't have mandated doc fees. In those states you tend to see outrageous charges. For states mandating the fee, everyone pays he same. It is not a federal mandate.

None of the Subaru dealerships are letting me order a WRX, SOA is restricting US dealerships to sell any new Subarus to Canadian buyers. How unfair is that.

Ok, so now that I have the VIN, can anyone explain to me how they are tracking their car by boat? For example the ship departure and arrivals, information like that. Thanks.

Man these are really crappy pics (all I had was my iPhone), but I finished the install tonight. Super easy, took me all of about 10 minutes. I like the way it looks though. It's a hair bluer than the HID's, but looks way better than the stock halogens. After seeing it I am definitely going to do an HID retrofit at some point, but for 30 bucks it is a pretty big upgrade. Did the license plate light as well, that looks really nice. Now I feel like I need to do all the interior lights too... This is all purely cosmetic btw. I don't think it changes visibility at all, I just like the lights to be all the same color white.

While I was in there, I also adjusted the height of the low beams. They were way too low before, to the point where if I was driving 80 on a well lit freeway I was overdriving them (getting about 3 seconds of light instead of the recommended 4). So I manually adjusted them to where "0" on the automatic switch is "1", so when I put the switch back at "0" they are just about perfect. (Not sure if the WRX has the adjustable HID switch or not) Made a pretty huge difference.

Anyway, on to the crappy pics.

Stock fogs:

Hoen fogs:

Beam pattern with one stock (left) and one Hoen (right). You can probably see the color best here:

License plate light. Sorry no before pic here but you know what it looks like:

All in all I'm happy. Tint goes on Thursday morning and then I'm done with cosmetic mods for now. I think I'll take my sales tax refund from the dealer and apply that towards Stage 1. They wrote me back right away and said they'd fix it tomorrow.

Why would you want to order the WRX in the US? Doesn't the Canada have better options? Or closer to JDM WRX?

I'll be paying thousands less in the US. I can easily save $8-10k

To be honest, staying away from the forums helped me for a couple weeks. I just browsed when I really had nothing to do.

The more you wait the better the car will be when it arrives.

Thanks for the pics. I'm definitely gonna have to pick a set of these up, they look really good. I might get the yellow ones too.

Joining the thread, ordered a CBS STI hatch w/nav on 1/21. It's been a little over a week and the wait is killing me already.

Yeah I thought long and hard about the yellow ones, but at the end of the day they don't help you see any better and I know I like the look of the color-matched white. Never driven with yellow fogs before, so I'm a bit curious how it looks on the car as well as when you're driving. Let me know what you end up doing.

Welp, called SOA today. Turns out my ETA is still April '13 and they don't have any more information at this time. Time to wait another month then give them a call!

the yellow is supposed to make it easier to see in fog and rain. i had 3000k projector HIDs in my civic and loved it.

(my intake was pushing the drivers side fog down, i later replaced it with a SRI

yes, they can discount the vehicle to compensate, however you are still paying a doc fee just like everyone else. hence it being on your purchase agreement.

this i don't know about. my dealership was no doc fees for the last 40+ years, but that changed in october. we keep it reasonable though, and have the lowest of any dealer in our area.

however, a state mandating the dealership to charge a doc fee sounds fishy to me.
