I disagree... Massa is a decent driver and former World Championship runner up with good experience under his belt. While he won't be as good as he used to be, he will prove to be a valuable asset to a younger team. Massa should be able to lure some sponsors over to any younger team with relative ease. Brazil will move mountains to sponsor him. It'll be hard to see him without a drive next year unless he chooses to leave the sport.

The lotus PR is awesome! If you check their FB page not afraid to take shots at themselves or other teams.

I somehow don't think this would fly with De Montezemlo

So with a seat open at Lotus, I'd assume Hulk will get that. Bianchi will probably get the vacant Sauber seat w.Ferrari paying his salary and Massa will be lucky to get a Caterham or Marussia seat, and end up going to Indycars.

Wish an american driver was close enough to get into the empty lotus seat.

Oh come on, you wouldn't like to see an american driver in F1? I would. I don't watch nascar or indy.

Dont be anti-american today.

It would be anti-American to be an F1 driver, no?

Think about it. The only way an American talent would make it to F1 would be to leave the states as a teenager and compete in Europe. Finding US backers during the time spent in various feeders series would be difficult, at best, and the payoff would be minuscule compared to the payouts and salaries given to even the poorest performing NASCAR drivers.

There are two over there now (Rossi & Daly), so we will see.

Very good points. Can't argue against them. BUT...it would hopefully bring in more fans to F1, and would be exicting to see an american driver in something other than the bottom 10 cars. Which Rossi or Daly would start anyways.

Well sure, I'd like to see a *GOOD* American driver in F1, but I won't lose any sleep if I never see one make it.

Jeff Gordon was given a chance to drive the Williams F1 car about 10 years ago, and Williams really would have given him a legitimate shot at a switch, but he would have had to spend a year as a test driver and even if he made the team, his salary would have been peanuts compared to his NASCAR deal.

That's why we see a lot of foreign guys come over here and try their hand. It's cheap and the money is good - but the racing is completely different, so they rarely succeed.

Agree with you again. An american driver wont change too much for me in F1 as I have a favorite driver (Vettel) and it will be years before an american driver can do well in F1. But it would nice to see some day an american driver get close to a championship one day.

EDIT: I did not know about the Jeff Gordon deal. Please don't let the american driver have a hick accent!

I'm really looking forward to hearing some Ferrari radio in english again.

I wonder if they keep Massa's engineer (can't remember his name)

I really hope Massa doesn't get the lotus seat! Nico deserves that seat and he will definitely take a much less salary then massa. Sauber's seat is pretty much taken by the russian. Interesting to see who goes into STR team
