So what im trying to get at is that maybe because there was a direct connection with Subaru of Canada and my dealership that my problem was more hastily resolved than I thought it would be. Or actually even resolved. And i'm not even saying my problem is resolved yet, but they have told me a new engine (short block anyway) is on its way and will call me when it has arrived. I haven't gotten around to asking Subaru yet, but does anyone know how the warranty works now with a new engine? do I get a new 60k warranty on the replacement? |

Well im back to this forum, which I was hoping to really really avoid. I had an oil consumption problem, got a new short block installed my car after waiting for it for over a month and a half...and after driving it for just over 3 weeks and 5500km I can say that my oil consumption problem is back!!! F!!!!!! I went to Subaru with the Oil light still on, they checked it and it was .6 of a liter low after 5500km of driving. They gave me the same old routine of "its normal for it to burn .6 in that amount of kms. Has anyone had their oil light come on during the break in period and then it never returned?

This is why new engines are scary.... I'm starting to believe not even Subbie knows what the full problem is.

Here's a question has anyone used any weight other than the recommended 0-20 full Synth ?
So far (touch wood) we have had very little oil loss from ours so far but in the first 2 dealer oil changes we've had I battled the Dealer who put in 10-30 Semi Synth against my wishes in the first, I made them drain it and insisted they only use 0-20 fully Synth as specified in the Manual. The motor runs brilliantly after its first 10k miles so will continue to insist they only use 0-20. |

I second that!
It's sad, but not surprising that a company like Subaru would try to ignore and make light of this ****ty situation. I'll probably stay that way until it gets to a point where it affects sales and / or consumer confidence and ratings. They can blow off only so many complaining customers for so long. Hopefully, someday, it'll get to a point where enough customers complain, that Subaru will have to come out and admit there is a problem and issue a permanent fix. Until that day comes, we just have to keep pushing and pushing for a solution and try to be patient. OR, another option is to sell your car and never buy another Subaru product... I'm strongly considering this option. |

I agree that those who are dissatisfied with your Subarus should sell them and not buy another one. This is exactly what I did with my TDI, and I've sworn to never buy a VW, Audi, Porsche, or any other VW product (which is too bad, because I really admire Audis). I think it's only fair for consumers to vote with their wallets. |

My Forester burned oil from 24,000 miles to 30,000 miles. The pcv valve was replaced at the 30,000 mile service as party of the maintenance and its not used oil since. If the pcv valve us stuck open your vehicle will use oil. Have you had the pcv valve checked out?

Yea your right. It's just annoying when you get a new engine installed in your new car and it has the same problem as it did the previous time. Then you have to go through the same bull S as last time to get the problem fixed. Back to Subaru every 2 weeks to hear that it's normal for your car to consume oil even though they just put a "brand new engine" in your car for the same exact problem your having now.
