Default Gauging Interest: Powertrix Coilovers

Hey guys. The other day I talked to the owner of Powertrix - Charles. We talked about potentially running a group buy of coilovers for the WRX/STi crowd.

I've had experience first hand with the Powertrix Road & Track Coilovers on my RX-8 and I can tell you they are top notch quality with great customer service. I would rank them above/at "Stance" coilovers. On the softest setting my RX-8 rode like stock yet handled much better than shocks and springs(Tanabe, Sprint, and H&R on KYBs), my friend (of which i sold it to) asked if they were just springs because they had impressive street manners. Dial a few clicks into the firm side of things and you can definitely tell these are just begging to be pushed on a track.

We discussed different options and potentially what Powertrix will be offering is a 3 tier level of coilovers. Street/ Road & Track/ And Ultra-lite(for the die-hard). Again, preliminary idea here and the street version may be scrapped.

Prototypes are in testing at the moment. A rough time-frame estimate would be around 1 year from now. Give or take a few months. So that gives time for people to save up and get an idea of plans for their car.

A nice option is that Powertrix did a "lay-away" program (so to speak) with a deposit up front and then payments for the total final amount. Which is very nice for those who cannot fork over $700 PLUS at one given time.
Official pricing is not determined yet.

More less I'm just here to inform the community of a potential awesome vendor who emphasizes pride in his work, strives for great customer service and offers a great product at an affordable price versus some of the $2-3k coilover options out there.

I'll ask him to do so, along with pics.

The ones I had seen for the rx8 were comparable to ohlins.

As long as you keep it simply informative and as a discussion about the product you're OK. If the vendor wants to start discussing pricing and actually set up some form of group buy we're going to need them to register with a vendor account. You can't sell their products for them. They can't advertise and discuss prices without a NASIOC Vendor account. The fees our vendors pay help keep the site running smooth and free of annoying ads. In return we give them some privileges.

Agreed. It's preliminary here, once I get the specifics about a group buy I'll contact you.

More less just gauging interest and giving people an idea about the product at this point.

I'm in for more updates. I have been looking to see what I wanted as far as suspension and this sounds promising.

Spoke with Charles today. The above pictures are the Road/and Track like I mentioned prior.

Should have pictures of Ultra-lite R/T with SWIFT springs option in a few days. (For the die-hard weight savings track junkies!)

R+D is finished already and they have production started.
Spring rates can be anywhere from 7k-10k in the front, to 5-8k in the rear with appropriate valving for the desired spring rate.
Custom springs and valving is also an option.

For the guys that want to slam they're car we can do custom 1" shorter assemblies.

Pricing is TBD. I can tell you my RX-8 coilovers were significantly cheaper than the competition by a few hundred. Not saying that will be the price but since there is no distributors per say, that cuts costs a lot due to mark-up.

I'm merely here to give Charles a hand in getting interest from potential consumers so we can offer the best service to you guys.

I'll be running the group-buy when we're up and running.
