Cool Subaru BRZ GT300 set to take on SuperGT

Less than five minutes after entering the new home of the Tokyo Motor Show, we're greeted with this: the Subaru BRZ GT300 race car.

Designed to compete in the GT300 class of Japan's SuperGT touring car series, the BRZ is set to replace the Legacy B4 that's competed in the series for the last two years. Being a GT300 contender, the BRZ's output will be limited to 300 horsepower and judging by the "Proud of Boxer" stickers flanking the front and rear, it's sure to be packing some manner of flat four, likely displacing around two liters.

The BRZ is pretty much the only way to get me back in a Subaru. Hopefully it is everything it's hyped up to be. I've already had an S2000 CR which was a stellar performer in its own right.

YOUR CR WOULD BLOW THIS OUT OF THE WATER! I'm at work and can't really listen to the sound, but what are we talking here? 200hp in a car that weighs 2800lbs? lame...looks great and if they make a Sti version then we're in business.

Everybody gets a hard on for this car, but the US wont see anything substantial for prob 2+ yrs. We will get the "base impreza" version here in the states.

You mean low compression pistons and choice of turbo or supercharger and then done. Frankly it's almost impossible not to be able to toss in a compact supercharger setup.

Just realized those taillights really remind me of a BMW Z4, yuck. The rest of the car is tits!

And I agree forced induction would take the BRZ from to immediately!

Japanese/Asian translations are fairly tongue-in-cheek. Just look at the mad JDM tyte things that have influenced certain styling cues in the US. There's the right side-left side stickers that are literally mirror images of one another, although reversed and unreadable. There's the sticker bomb crap that started with drifters and cracked bumpers.

If you let Japan have its way, we'd actually be driving cars called Super Subaru Happy Time STI Smile Kookaroo.

i think brz gt300 means 300hp, since they are competing in the series that limits hp to 300 or less as stated in the OP. i don't know whether or not that means turbo yet. doesn't look like it, but look at that f1 style suspension...jizz.

If those pictures you posted are from the Breezy GT300, then I'm pretty sure it has a turbo. I think I see one behind the intercooler-to-manifold pipe in the 2nd picture.

well that is definitely a non-AVCS, EJ engine with a turbo I do like the dual injection though free power is always good.

Just adding to my suspicion that the FA/FB platforms aren't going to be boosted anytime soon...if ever.

Can't wait to get my hands on one and dive into it. The FA20 does have Yamaha heads though and a square b/s ratio.

Couple bits from the WRC cars on there , S12 intercooler (even still has the 2 temp sensor ports in it ) , The in manifold injectors and the secondary injector rails are WRC , coil packs , turbo actuator , lower mounted alternator , looks like a late spec manifold as well also looks like they have the extra tensioners as well (shiny bit behind the cam covers , and with those cam covers they use 2 timing belts. Even the oil fill cover is from the S11 and on. Wonder if they used the IHI turbo or the TR30R.
