Default New 19" Wheels, Brakes on the STI

I know most people hate 19"s on an STI but I've been running them since I have had the car and while I wanted to go to 18"s I couldn't justify it since I had just bought new tires several months before I got new wheels. I was running 19" Enkei RPF1s but after experiencing the crappiness of San Antonio potholes bending up the wheels and having them repaired several times I decided to go with a stronger wheel. Tirerack.com marked these SSR GT7-H wheels down a good bit so I went ahead and purchased them.

This is the second time I've had to replace my rotors and pads (I'm at 60,000 miles now) and I decided this time to upgrade from the stockers (last set was performed under warranty). I bought DBA 4000 Series slotted rotors, Hawk HP+ pads, and Goodrich stainless steel brakes lines. They are noisier and dustier than the stock Brembos but I definitely noticed an upgrade in braking power.

Just some crappy Eibach Pro-Kit springs. I was planning to upgrade the suspension after I paid off the car but a baby came along and the car has taken a hit on the priority list.

35% or 25%. Whatever the lowest legal limit is for Texas.

Hey man, what's up? I don't know what you were asking but the old wheels were damaged beyond repair. I should have sold them for scrap metal but was too lazy and just set them out on the curb. I'm surprised someone else didn't come and pick them up but finally the trash service got them.

Those actually look really good on your car. I just think it's a shame that to run 19s you have to sacrifice having a wider wheel & tire width & how much you can lower it.

I've actually been running them for a year now (just now posting pics). I haven't had any issues yet though there are a lot less potholes here in East Texas than there are in San Antonio.

Agreed. Hopefully these tires will last another 30 - 40,000 miles but after that I will probably get some 18" wheels that are at least 8.5" wide and some taller tires. I'll probably do some upgrades on the suspension then as well.
