Depends on model of car. My sports have them under wiper, nieces base has name plate on lift gate where my sport badge is.

I don't mind the awd/impreza/subaru/sport emblems, but PZEV, woopdeedoo.

If you go to the link up in post #2662 above and read the last paragraph, you'll see that North Carolina isn't a state that requires PZEV vehicles. As such, your car isn't PZEV, and you don't have any of the labeling.

Just because his state doesn't require PZEV, doesn't mean subaru won't sell PZEV in his state. It was optional to have PZEV or not. Which means, Subaru could have shipped some to any or all dealers. Now, it doesn't even matter, all impreza are PZEV.

That's what I thought too about North Carolina until I just discovered after 1.5 years I have this HC absorption filter in my air cleaner box and didn't know what it was. Then today the dealership told me my VIN is a PZEV model but it's not labeled anywhere that is it.

I'm going to stop by my dealership on the way home from work and have them check again. I'm hoping it is PZEV because according to the website, PZEV has a 15yr/150,000 mile emissions warranty. Which is good if I ever fail an emissions test in the next 13.5 yrs/120,000 miles remaining. At least that's what I hope it's good for. Better to have than have not.

Anyone install OEM rain guards themselves on a '12 hatch?.. seems pretty goof proof, but I just wanted to feel it out before I place an order.

Or, did anyone get a non OEM set that they like?

Forget going to the dealer. The answer is under the hood. Of all places, right?

I did, it is pretty straight forward. it can be a little tricky pulling off the backing. also, make sure you have everything lined up before you attach it to the window. because, once those clips are in, there is really no takesy backsy. you will run the risk of snapping them off the rain guard or tearing the black vinyl off the trimming. I did both. If you do, just super glue them back on or once installed, you cant see the tear (but, you'll know it's there). is it goof proof? nothing is.

Do the OEM ones go inside the window tracks? Those kinds are better than the ones that just stick to the outside. At least look-wise..

nope, double sided tape with one side already taped on the guard. not sure if there are aftermarket ones, but I compared them to my friend's weathertech for the tundra. his are more solid and sturdy, while mine are light and flexible. by no means are they made of paper, just thinner than weathertech's. i dont see them coming off any time soon. i had them for about 15-20K miles.

Also, I am not sure how many high milage guys that are out there and bought the AEM dryflow filter. Well, my car reached 30+K miles and it's that time to check on everything. While cleaning the filter (used detergent, sprays, and dish detergent, not at once but in stages) I notice that the red dye they used seemed to wash off. not all of it, but alot of it. none of the stuff i used are bleaching agents. Just curious if anyone noticed that either.

Ive actually read a couple negative reviews of the WT rain guards for the impreza/xv. One guy went from WT to OEM. I love my WT floormats, but I'm leery of the rain guards.

I am leaning towards the WT ones. I had them on my Si and they were great. Only issue is the dark tint on them slooooowly faded a little over time..

haha i did the same ans2k, i had a small cut i would say, on the trim...i was heated but you cant see it and you forget about it...well i did until you brought up that memory! haha jk

easy peezy....just like ans2k said, make sure its lined up the way you want it and peel from one side (make sure you pull some of the sticky strip then hold it into place and start peeling and pressing.

i even installed the rear spoiler on the hatch myself, pretty straight forward since they give you a template for the screw placement...only iffy thing about that install is drilling into your car which can be a shame and scary situation (possibly marking the screw hole incorrectly or drill running away from you, thus scratching the car).

with regards to whether aftermarket is better, im not sure if aftermarkets have clips since you have to peel the black rubber weather seal down to install the clips with the oem ones...which leads me to say the oem would be sturdier. plus with the oem you dont see that border like some aftermarkets out there

OEM

some random pic i found to illustrate some of the aftermarket ive seen.

anyways, i say its a DIY project.

I have the OEM rain guards and like them. I've installed many of these before but this is the first one that has clips. Like blackmamba said, they make it appear sturdier and they are. I like how I can wipe away the water spots and it doesn't feel like its about to come loose.
