bad idea

many many many things are different
cam/crank pickups
ignition
injector size/type/mounting
IAC

the block could be used but you will need to swap the cam pickup and your 03 heads

EJ207 GC8 Ver5/6 LONGBLOCK (minus intake manifold) will run like a USDM WRX. You would have to use the USDM WRX crank sprocket and camshaft sprocket.

EJ207 GDB Ver7-9 will work but you have no control over your AVCS from your factory USDM WRX ECU. You need the other wires or whatever is out there to make use of the AVCS.

also remember see what sight you buy it from and see how well they are known. alot of these japanese chop shops are just that and they cut wires and alot of times they cut stuff in the wrong places which makes the job alot longer. i personally like to stay domestic

If you are only swapping the sb itself, it can be done although you might want to have your heads looked at. If you want to do the whole long block, look at the advice above. What are your plans for the car and other mods i.e. tuning methods?

No, the engine will not work. You could use the shortblock if you really wanted to but the EJ20K shortblock is not reliable.

^This.

If you are going to use the short block alone, you would probably want to rebuild it while it is out.
