All Weather Floor Mats...
I was wondering if it would be better to remove the all weather mats during summer and re install the carpets ones or vice versa.
-Thanks

I keep mine in because I live in a rural area.
My complaint with those mats is that they don't have a heel pad! I bought them, and in a few months a tear developed where my heel rests. |

I'm keeping mine in year-round as well. My last vehicle had tears where my heels rest, and the all-season mats wear much less in that area.

I bought the weather tech floor liners the week i bought the car. I run them year round otherwise my combat boots would tear up my carpet mats and interior.

+1 for year-round. I added them when I bought my car thinking that I would just use them for winter. I realized how easy they are to clean and how well they protect the carpet and am just leaving them in all the time now.

I also have mine in all the time, easy to clean plus my carpet mats are grey and the all black rubber and floor carpet looks better.

Year round here as well. Being in the NW you never know when it's going to rain and there is always tons of **** on the ground. With the all-weather I can just shake them out occasionally rather than having to vacuum every week. My carpet mats are still in the plastic.

the dealer actually "installed" my carpet mats under my all-weather ones. I'm pretty sure this is explicitly against the all-weather mat "instructions", but I've been too lazy to move them.

I have the all-weather mats. I keep them in year round because my interior is tan so I like the black offset. |

If you want your carpet mats in the vehicle for the look of the logo/color, etc., then you can get clear mats and put them over the carpet ones and preserve them while in use. Just make sure the clear mat won't cause a driving hazard by slipping around under your feet. You could attach some small piece of hook side of the peel-n-stick Velcro in a few places on the edge of the clear mat so it stays attached to the carpet. Just a few thoughts. IME Subie mats/carpet isn't very durable with out some protection over them and regular vacuuming/cleaning.

I personally did not go the oem Subaru all weather mats because they don't provide the needed protection. I did go with Husky Liners for the front and rears. I keep them on year around. You never know when it's actually going to rain regardless of what the news claims the weather will be. If your concerned with protecting your carpet year around you can by 3m Scotchguard spray. Follow the directions, let it air dry, apply whatever carpet you prefer. |

Maybe I am weird, but I like the carpet ones even for the snow and rain. Sure they get messed up a bit, but for my 04 the new carpets were only $34 bucks. The driver side was shot, but the others were fine even with kids and stuff. I have the Subaru all weather sitting in my shed in bags. Complete opposite of this thread. Maybe this winter I will give them a try.

I like the look of the carpet mats but don't have the money to replace them when they get messed up due to mother nature.

Watch out for the clear mats and some aftermarket all weather mats as they will actually stain the carpet beneath them. Generally only noticeable on vehicles with lighter carpets tho

I left them in all year in my '05 and never had any issues with wear. I have been wanting to get them for this car but have been to cheap to spring for them.
