Speed sensor wire / Wiring on AVN5435
So I thought everything was wired up right. All day today I kept getting that "check speed pulse" message whenever I would go into navi mode, but figured it was working so I thought it was okay since it would properly navigate the car and the messafe would go away after about a min. Well i read up and it says the wire is not conencted to the speed wire on the car. I tried by the ecu and I tried the wire behind the gauge cluster and it still didnt work. When i go into systems check, it displays the speed, but the wire is not hooked up.
Anyone have a diagram, a picture? Thanks...

did you cut the wire short and remove the diode? if you did you probably ruined your nav unit.

I have had my 5495 hooked up since Aug, and have not hooked up the speed sensor wire.
My nav is right on (as i'm passing a street in the car, it shows me passing the street on the nav) Some say that it 'improves' accuracy, but its not really necessary when selective availability is set to 0 (this means the gps system is as accurate as it gets w/o using dgps, 10m) |

^^ Thanks for the input, but whenever you go to the navi screen, does it say "check speed pulse" on top?

No, it doesnt say 'check speed pulse'. If I hit the 'info' screen, and look at the speed pulse though, it say 'no' or 'off' or something. |

Right. SOG = Speed over Ground, or GPS calculated speed. |
