245 max MIGHT work, but 255 or 265 I doubt it. Just roll your fenders.

18x8.5 +44 with either 235/40 or 245/40 will work perfectly without rolling the fenders...I speak from experience running both those tires on that exact spec rim lol and it doesn't look all that bad...

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2456768

Check out my build thread...the black xxr's have 245/40's and the gold DPT's have 235/40 federals...this will give you an IDEA of how the car will look with 8.5" rims and those tires If this doesn't help I don't know what will haha!!

ok I should have specified.. I have an STi lol I'm definitely not going down a tire size! thanks for the advice though!

I was talking to the guys at wheeldude.com and they said a 255/35 will fit on my car with those rims.

lol according to the answers ive been getting in this thread there is no way to go wider ( wheel and tire) without doing a roll/pull...there has to be someone on here thats running a different wheel/tire setup on stock!

245 40 18s on a 18x9 +35 slight roll in the rear only because I usually have about 400lbs in my trunk

What are your thoughts on a set of 18x8.5 +44 grids with 245/40/18.

i wanted to go wider to a 255 which is 9mm wider than the 245 according to tire racks chart ....so if i take the stock offset and subtract the tire width (which should be half of 9mm for both sides) and then add the offset of the grids(44) (55-44+4.5=6.5) so from what i got from this it will be 6.5mm further out than stock and i thought i read somewhere that there is 9mm to play with between the stock rim/tire and the fender. but if i run grids i have to run 5mm spacers in the front right?

You should not have to run spacers unless you have brembos

Also you have more fender clearance In the front over the rear. I would go with a 245 still looks square with just a bit of stretch to help with rubbing

I'm sure this has been covered but there is 103 pages to filter through. Looking to go 18x8 +48. 235/40/18 on a stock suspension 2011 wax sedan will the 5mm lower offset on the same width rim have adverse effects? Fender rolling?

255 on a 8.5 is just to much I'd have to check on the spacer thing

There are guys running 275's on the 8" wrx wheels.

Just because it fits doesn't mean it's best.
