i think right when u buy the motor, u have to send the ecu to a vendor to get it ecutek'd for 93 octane instead of the 98 octane or wahtever. So that would suck if u had the v.6 all ready in ur car but couldnt find anyone to ecutek it for 93 octane since it uses older software.
stop debating and get the v.7 |

Well it's 98 RON they use. Sunoco has said their 94 is 99 RON. People have used 93 and been plenty fine. Some have also used 92 and been ok. If anything i'd save the money and use GTA fuel enhancer, turn down the boost, or just let the ecu do it's thing. In a stock setup the ecu will adapt.

Maybe I will get a reflash But we do have 93 and 94 octane here, so.
Anyway, next question... Screw the V6 cause that's just going to be a PITA to find. Next, between a JDM V7 and a JDM V8 engine, does anyone know the wiring diffferences? keith |

ahaha... we'll see whatever is the best deal between the 7 and 8... if wiring isnt different ill try for the 8, but it may be too expensive.

You guys dont even have the engine in your car yet and you are talking tuning? If you can afford a Ver7 or 8 and can afford the mods to warrant a ecu reflash then you can afford the reflash. So you guys are finding Ver 7 and 8 engines? how much $$$? And how complete?

This whole thread cracked me up! I think the Ver6 RA swap is great! And it came with a vf29, not vf28. It's almost exactly like the vf30. Was it really that hard to find a Ver6 back in 04? I know there were an abundance of 7&8's because everyone in Japan hated the Bugeye's because they were considered the "Death" of the light weight gc8. Anyone doing a swap into a gc chassis, should definitely go with the ej207dw2pr! It's the exact same engine as the Ver7, but w/o AVCS. And if you plan on building the bottom end anyways, its pointless to spend more money on an engine that only cost more because of the parts you will be replacing. So save the loot, get a Ver6, spend the extra you saved on new internals, and a Apexi power fc! You will be smoking any Ver7 out there! I think that the Ver6 STi RA WRC limited is the greatest Subaru ever made, with one exception..S206!

#1 Why did you bump a thread from 2004?
#2 Did every last one of all Japanese people hate the Bugeye? Bold statement. #3 There is no S206. They stopped at S204 and went to the GRB and R205 ect carried on Last edited by 25rsti; 03-03-2013 at 08:40 AM. Reason: corrected. It's early. |

Let me get this straight, there were an abundance of V7 and 8's because they were too heavy? Meaning Japanese people purchased the car, thought crap this car is slow, I should export the motor and crush the car. V7 works with open source so no need to buy Apexi. Talk about saving money. One of the main benefits of getting an EJ207 is so you don't have to rebuild the bottom end. Now as far as looks? You can't beat a V6 STi. |

But still doesn't change the fact of how unpopular the Bugeye's are in Japan. |

All you people do is talk smack and try to make others look stupid. The way I see it, is if your friend said somethin that u disagree with, ur not Guna call them an idiot and try to make them look dumb. So show respect, and you just might get it back.

Why do you care wtf I do? If you weren't so ignorant, and smart enough to do research on something, and not just talk outta ur azz, you'd know that there IS an S206. try showing respect, and not just jumping the gun on trying to prove someone else wrong. It only makes u look stupid.
