FYI... Falken ZE-912 is All-Season M+S tire & Sumitomo HTR 200 is High Performance Summer tire.
ZE-912 has 65k miles warranty on 60/65 series (40k miles on lower profiles) & HTR 200 has NONE. ZE-912 is pretty new product (I don't know about HTR 200) so assuming it has newer technology compound. From online reviews, ZE-912 is pretty good in dry & wet, but not so well in snow. HTR 200 is pretty good in dry but not so good in wet, & DO NOT try it on snow! I'm currently running ZE-912 (225/50-16) on my 00-01 RS wheels. It has been pouring today & this tire sticks! It's pretty good on dry as well. I haven't tried yet on snow (maybe in Jan./Feb.). I would recommend ZE-912!!! No experience on HTR 200. IMO, Sumitomo is pretty slow in updating its technology. The new HTR Z III seems to have pretty good review, but they still sell the original HTR Z. |

I'm running the ZE-912s as well in 225/50/16 on 03 stockers. I've only put ~100-150 miles on them so far but its been light snowing here & I haven't noticed them being much different than the Toyo Proxes4 I was used to in the snow, but again its been very light snow w/ the ZE-912s.

I bought ZE-912s today and I'm driving to Utah and Montana this week. So I'll be able to post a pretty thorough review fairly soon.
First impression is that they're not as stiff or grippy as RE750s but that's a given. I'll see how they are once they're broken in a bit. |

That's why I said "but that's a given."
They're still new and squirmy and it's raining, but the difference even pulling out of the lot surprised me. They're going to see quite a bit of snow very shortly though. From what I've heard they're better in it than RE92s so I'll be better off than last year. |

Well, it looks like your location is Florida, so you don't really need an all-season. But if those are your only choices, I'd go with the Falken. I've never heard anything good about Sumitomo. Consumer Reports rated the Falken best out of 15 tires.

I have the 912's on my Suzuki Forenza, & they are very sticky in the rain. Love them, however they aren't anything special in the snow (at least not on a front wheel drive car). But you don't really need to worry about snow.
The Suzuki is my commuter car, actually enjoy driving this car since I've put the 912's on. I used to only drive my Suby in the heavy rain, however with these tires I have no more worries. |

I just bought a set of the 912's as I have heard some good reviews on them and the price is very good. We will see how it goes.

So far I'm pretty impressed with them. As an all season. The snow grip is not all that great, the sidewalls are soft, and the tread squirms around noticeably. However, the overall dry and wet grip is good, and the flexibility does give you more feel for what the tires are doing.
Unfortunately I can't compare it to anything other than an RE750 and RE92s. Overall it is a much better tire than the RE92s but I expected them to be better in the snow. I've driven these through 6" of fresh snow on the interstate, to ski hills, and on hardpacked snow/ice on the highway. In the deep stuff grip wasn't great and they floated around and tram lined. Part of that could be due to their width (225/50-16). They were better on hardpack and if the road was sanded there weren't any problems. |

I've had both. The Sumitomo isn't bad, but the 912 is a great tire, I'm very happy with these.

I've been running the 912's since November and although the snow traction isn't that good, I'd agree with the poster that said that they were overall a nicer tire than the RE92's I had on before. My impressions are that they have decent stiffness on the sidewall, noticeably more than the RE92's. Running 215/55/16s on my stock rims, I find them responsive and good handlers in both wet and dry. As an added bonus, they really cut down on road noise compared to the RE92s.

I've used the Sumitomo HTR 200 on another car.....
...good gracious they're noisy! They ride well, grip well (I guess), but the noise...ughh. They're louder than anything else I've used. I'd say go with the Falken |

I have 912's on my car right now. I replaced a set of 451's that lasted about 35k. Before that I had a set of 512 and before that a set of Yoko ES100's. As far as response goes, the yoko's were at the top. But, the 451's were a better all around tire. The 512's flat out sucked. The sidewalls were way to soft. It's more of a passenger car tire anyway. The 912's, to me anyway, are more of an overall tire, if you know what I mean. It doesn't do anything extremely well but it does everything decent. I am running a set of 235/45/17's on a set of 17x7.5's. This is the size that I had for everything but the Yoko's. As an everyday tire, it's great. It's quiet and handles quite nicely. But, you have to run them around 38 to 40 psi or the sidewalls will feel a little soft. I would definitely buy them again.
Just wanted to add that, lately, for the most part my car has been a commuter and the 912's are by no means a high performance tire. The comments I made should be interpreted as such as they relate to my commute to work everyday. If I were to track my car again, I would get a set of R compound tires. Thanks, Bill |

^ obviously he's not in the market for R compounds... he's looking at the cheaper end of tire between HTR and 912's and 912's are the superior choice
