*** Phatbotti Tuning 2015 WRX Grimmspeed Intake Comparo + New Spark Plug Comparo ***
Event: Dyno Tuning
Location: California Ambient Temp: 80 Elevation: 0 Weather: sunny Car: 2015 WRX Tuner: Ron aka PhatRon Tuned With: Cobb APv3 Dyno Info: Mustang-500-SE Transmission: 6spd Gear: 3rd Peak HP at RPM: 336whp @ 5800rpm Peak Torque at RPM: 370tq @ @ 3600rpm Baseline hp/tq for a stock on same dyno: 207whp/208 wtq (91octane) Target Boost: 23 psi tapering to 16psi Fuel: e63 (from zeitronix gauge) Modifications: Cobb APv3, IAG TGV Deletes, IAG AOS, IAG EGR Deletes Mods Added for this testing: New OEM Spark Plugs. Grimmspeed Stealth Intake First up is the spark plug test. I had 34k on my original plugs and decided to change them out and see if there was any difference. No noticeable difference between the 34k mile plugs and the freshies. I will say to be careful when getting plugs though. Subaru gave me 3 correct plugs and 1 plug for an NA car. So always be sure to check your part numbers before you leave the dealership. Cost me 2 hrs sitting in traffic to go back and get the correct plug. Next up is the Grimmspeed Stealthbox intake. The testing was done on the same car, same fuel, same day, same boost, same AFR, and same timing. Peak gains were 10whp and 7 ft*lbs of tq. Now for the question everyone asks Can I Run This Without a Tune - Of course, you can run anything without a tune if you're willing to accept the risks. However, I would not recommend it on 91 octane. - Fueling will change ~10-15% across the entire maf scale. IE, it will lean the car out by a point at wide open throttle. - Boost will increase 1-3 psi. Being that the stock tune already spikes to 23.5-24psi, this mod would probably cause you to hit overboost fuel cut and be very annoying. Of course the overboosting will vary from car to car and test to test on stock vehicles depending on the ambient temp at the time of the pull due to Subaru aggressively reducing the wgdc when the temps decrease. All 3 plots together Boost Plot of the 3 pulls

Ron since Cobb hasn't come out with the Flex Fuel kit for 2015 + Wrx's. What kit are you using?
Also what exhaust system are you planning on using? |

I just have maps on the ap for 5,7,9,12 and full e85. Manual flex fuel.
I can run the 5gallon map with 7 or 9 gallons too. Since these cars can stay in closed loop at wot it's not really a huge deal. I won't be putting an exhaust on. I'm old now and don't really like how they sound on these 15's. |

How do you like the intake? I haven't found a video of the sound it makes.

Wow! 129hp increase from baseline with just a few intake mods and E mix.
I'm impressed. |

I definitely like the idea of just an intake and flexfuel instead of a turbo back...more power and more quiet! also getting old!

not sure where the charts are now as i did it like a year and a half ago...but they picked up a solid 10-15hp across the whole powerband. |

Am I misreading your graphs or the information in your post? The typical stock tune at 5800rpms is around 220-240hp. Where is this massive jump coming from? |
