I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I just downloaded the A4SGE01C firmware, and the .hex file is only 160KB. Isn't it supposed to be 192KB?

It can be either 160kb or 192kb in size - but for patching it needs to be 192kb. You can change the size using ecuedit.

The hardest part for me was editing the subie file for ecuflash. Finding the correct file for your ecu in the program file folders of ecuflash and then finding a program that will let you open them and edit them ( pasting in the new lines of code ) and then resaving it back into the program files, took me a while but i found out how.

What is your problem exactly? No idea where to start? read the "read me file" it helps, but is written in comperter savy speak, so it might be difficult to understand if you have no idea about that stuff

Here are the keys- getting the map patched, getting the definitions the change the factors into ecuflash ( so you can edit the LC values )

here is a jist of what i did- hope this helps

MAKE SURE YOUR rom FILE IS 192KB first

[size=3]Getting the map patched -
1. put the .hex file of your map into the folder with the patching files ( unzipped)
2. click on patch (wind

Where did you download it from?I have EcuEdit so maybe what I can do just upload some 192kb files to OpenEcu for people to use for launch control.EcuEdit has the ability to change the ROM size.

Wouldn't it be better if people with 160k files simply downloaded trial version of ecuEdit and did conversion to 192K themselves?

Sure if they want to.That works too.Not sure if you have that ability in the trial version though.

Make sure you ROM files is 192kb first.You don't have to use your specific ROM either.The AF426 (A4SGE01C) is the latest ROM reversion for the 02 WRX.It has alot of misc. fixes in it that you will never even detect through RomRaider or the such.You should always flash to the latest ROM.Make sure you have the latest definitions for ECuFlash.Everytime you update definitions once you have installed the Launch Control you will have to reinstall Launch Control.Very easy if you use your head.People seem to make things more complicated than they need to.Basiclly before you update just copy your old definition an put it on your desktop,update new definitions,open up the newest definition for your ROM and copy and paste the Launch Control from the old definition to the new one.Now that that is out of the way and you have the newest ROM go to http://tinywrex.wordpress.com/2008/0...reza-wrx-my02/ and follow the instructions untill right after you have copied the Launch Control patch to note pad.Then go to "my computer>c:drive>program files>openecu>ecuflash>rommetadata>subaru>impreza wrx>A4SGE01C and right click it.Select "open with" and hopefully XML editor will be a choice.Then just paste the copied patch from notepad.If you can't handle this or don't want to you can pay a small fee to Tinywrex to do this for you as an option.Please all of you using this patch at least donate something( $10-$20).Obviously some have had no problems,and some had problems that are easily fixable as bmw50021 has documented earlier.

MAKE SURE YOUR rom FILE IS 192KB first
Getting the map patched -
1. put the .hex file of your map into the folder with the patching files ( unzipped)
2. click on patch (windows batch file)
3. it will pop up in command promt telling you to hit any key
4. file patch complete -

now you need to be able to edit the LC values (delt rpm[how many rpms lower than stock redlin] and mph disengage [set at 0 for best results])

Getting the ecuflash program to recognize LC
1. Find the file for your ecu in the program files of ecu explorer (readme file has directory names and folder locations i dont know them off the top of my head)- XXXXXXXXX number/letter combination
2. Find a way to open that file with a text editor or something, its an xml file.
3. Copy the code from the file that you downloaded called "ecuflash xml"
4. Paste that code into the xml file for your ecu, MAKE SURE ITS AT THE END OF THE CODE BUT BEFORE THE "</rom>" at the end.
5. Re save the xml file back into the ecuflash program files

Hardest parts -
1. finding the xml file for your ecu, i cant find it again and i dont have the instructions with me, so i cant tell you the file folder directory, sorry.

2.opening the xml file to edit it

3.saving it back in without the issues of admin/program file edits and stuff.

Hope that helps, other than the xml file issues, its very simple, if your ecu file is to big/wrong size, you are either sol, or have to hand copy all the tables from one map to the other- which sucks....

To edit the LC perameters-
1. Open your map in ecuflash

2. Click on the + box nest to tinywrex patches

3. its should drop down a list of 3 options
i. LC disable speed (KMH) threshold
ii. LC disable speed (MPH) threshold
iii. LC RPM delta

4. To adjust the rpm your LC redline you will need to Change LC RPM delta. Figure out where you want your new redline withe the formula below.

LC RPM delta is the amount the rpm is LOWERED from the factory rpm for redlin.

(factory redline RPM) - (LC RPM delta) = New LC Redline RPM

5. To change the speed at which LC RPM delta is shut off and your car goes back to the factory redline RPM Limit Set the LC disable speed (KMH) threshold OR LC disable speed (MPH) threshold. either will work.

Very simple

Good luck,
Boomer

Any word?
Turns out it was because my ROM was originally one that I had pulled off of the ECU when my AccessPort was installed (then divorced the AP and flashed the map back on, and have been tuning using that ever since).

This patch needs an OEM rom, which I downloaded from openecu and applied the patch without a problem. I just finished copying over the tables from my old ROM, so I'll flash it to the car and try out LC at some point.

1. This patch is applicable only to a ROM image downloaded from a USDM Subaru Impreza WRX MY02 with calibration id A4SGE01C. The patch will add the following features/enhancements (only one can be active at a time):

* Launch control
* Valet rev limit
* Stationary rev limit
Sounds like the "valet rev limit" might be more useful for me than LC since Im too scared to launch the car. Anyone have more details on that?

Ok got LC working on my car again.

Only issue is the revs "bounce" really slow. How do I speed this up?

In rom raider edit your rev limiter on above and off below settings to be closer together.

I set my difference to 50rpm and it seems to be the sweet spot for producing boost.

np. I tried 10rpm difference, but it produced 2psi less - just remember to log it to check you get the best results - even though it sounds better and doesn't drop as far, it doesn't always mean it will perform better

yes, but have you logged to see if it makes more boost when it bounces faster?

When I lgged, I tried everything from oem difference to 5rpm difference, and 50rpm was the sweet spot for making the most boost under LC conditions.

It may be different for you - which is why I'd log it to see how much boost you make under LC. Try several differences, ranging from 5rpm to 100rpm and see which one makes the most boost
