Unhappy for sale: 2004 STI in calgary

Well, I have decided that I am probably going to sell the STI. Its been a fun car but Im not really liking the idea of donating so much to insurance companies anymore.

A little info on the car...

2004
Java Black Pearl
22,000 kms

Lightly modded, mods include the following:

Blitz SUS Intake
XXTuning (GTSpec Gen 2) Header and Uppipe, ceramic coated by Top Gun coatings (1800 degrees, the highest they offer)
Godspeed downpipe
Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust
STI Group N hardened strut tops
STI "pinks" upgraded springs

The following comes with but is not currently on the car (or opened for that matter):

Whiteline rear differential bushings
Whiteline steering rack bushings
StaticX grounding kit

It also comes with the Ecutek DeltaDash datalogging tool, 1 license of which is tied to the car, and 2 extra unused licenses remain.

I have a set of Semperit Sportgrip winter tires which worked great this winter that have been used for 1 season and will also be included.

Because of the mods and extras, I am thinking I would like to get 47,900 for it. You would get most of the stock parts as well, and it would be fairly easy to swap them and sell the aftermarket ones if you so desire.

It's an unfortunate truth that your mods will probably not increase the value of your car. In fact , modding the car will often reduce and not increase the value of your car. You have further reduced the value by voiding at least some areas of the warranty. That is one of the main reasons why so many owners part out the cars prior to selling.
Don't flame me , I am only the messenger. If you do a search you will find much on the subject.
My .02 is that you will do much better financially if you return the car to stock and confirm the status of the warranty.
Sorry you have to part with such a fine car.

If this was next summer i would probally pick it up off ya, but sigh 1 more year till i think of buying an STi.

I agree with what is said though, return the car to stock or close to and sell it that way.

I am aware of the difficulty selling with the mods, unfortunately its usually the case. I was kind of hoping that due to the nature of the mods (its just basic intake/exhaust bolt-ons) it is apparent that the well-being of the car shouldnt have been jeopardized, I didnt do any fuel management or anything serious, and it wouldnt be very hard for the owner to replace what I have.

As for suspension, theyre are all subaru parts, so I dont think that would affect the warranty. Thats actually why I opted for the more expensive parts.

But, I did pay 52k for this car less than 22,000 kms ago, and because I am giving all the stock parts with it (except the cat-back, that is sold) as well as the aftermarket ones, I dont think 47,900 is a bad deal...

I may end up parting it out, but I'll see what kind of interest it gets.

FYI there is a used or "previoulsy enjoyed" 04 Black STi at Subaru of Calgary with 17km for $45900, just thought you might want to know what other ones are priced at. Good luck, its a nice ride.

I have seen it...very nice car.......but price does sound a bit high. Aftermarket parts are only good for the person that wants them. Most peoples attitudes are if the car has been modded its bagged. Funny is people will jump all over a modded muscle car but an import they run from it like the plague.

If it was blue I might have thought about it. Black looks awesome but such a pain in the ass to take car of.

I agree the price would probably only be considered by someone interested in doing similar things with their car. Its a good deal, but like you guys said, narrows the demand down alot.

Im not in a huge hurry to move it, eventually if I really want it gone I may part it out.

Keep in mind that is 45,900 plus tax though. MSRP is 47,900 on those cars, so thats not much of a hit. That 45,900 car is actually going to cost you 49,113 after GST.

So mine is actually 2k cheaper in a way?

How much is your insurance? Mine is dirt cheap, $80/month.

I'd be interested in your Delta Dash.

Mine isn't much more.

googe

Tuff crowd in here. Don't even bother posting a for sale unless its for parts.

IMHO
Take off the engine mods, leave on the suspension as its factory and you'll get your money especially if you've had the dealer service book filled in for all services.

I'd say hold on to the car... I dno about yours (with all the tickets) but insurance is about to go down(if you haven't read/heard about it) and hopefully won't be a problem anymore.

I'll believe that when I see it.......what I was hearing is the average persons insurance will go down $60 a year and the younger people with clean records will come down about $75 a yr........big whoop...........jack up rates like 300% over the last couple years and then give a 5% discount.....oh your sooooo generous

friggen insurance companies.......

Man, that soooo sux. I pay $133/month for TWO vehicles, and only a $1000 deductible. Of course, I'm really old too. Too bad you have to part with it.
