Default I am now testing exhaust dB levels with teh accuracy!

I won this auction so now I am going to measure exhaust dB levels for everyone's car and start a chart to shut up teh n00bs who think XXX exhaust is quiet.

My thanks to Jeff for reminding of this idea and I hope to put it to good use for the Subaru community. Someone protect me though. Mrs. Unabomber is NOT going to be happy about this. Spend $$$ on dumb car stuff is bad, but spending $$$ on dumb car stuff that will "profit" people I don't know is gonna earn me a kick in the nutz.

I need an excuse/lie or someone paypal me $$$.

I also need a very odd/funny line to leave as feedback for the seller. I'm thinking:

You're not the first person to tell me that I really know how to satisfy a woman

I'll be doing dB testing for various cars/exhausts at idle and 3000RPM.

EX:

2003 WRX
Godspeed catted Downpipe
Stock uppipe
Prodrive axle back
Stock mid pipe
97 dB @ idle
103 dB @ 3000 RPM

And so on and so on.....

I spent $50 on something 10000% not needed by me or my car, so Becky will in NO way ever see the logic. She will then kick me in the nutz.

Why not get the radio shack one for $20? They are accurate you know...or you could have borrowed mine for a long period of time.

Just tell her it's for a secret Anniversary present/birthday present (whichever is further away).

That'll buy you some time to think of a really good excuse.

Digital>analog. I thought about the Radio Shack one, but my ghetto online search only yielded a $40 one. For $10 more, I have a digital one with peak hold. Peak hold ownz.

Why don't you charge people 5 bucks or even a dollar to test the Db's? then you'll make the money back? I know that sometimes people "rent" these materials from their freinds/forums buds rather then buying them - I know i'd pay 5 bucks if I could use it for a day if i was testing Exhaust Db and such...

NO........I will be testing them at the meet if it gets here in time. I might test them at the house if I have to, since I'm only going up to 3000 RPM.

I don't feel right about charging. I wish I was that type of person sometimes, but what goes around comes around. Since I've been the leader here, I've gotten free lightweight lug nuts, free Goodridge SS brake lines, free 2004 STi takeoff struts/springs, free 2004 Sti springs, and a free 20MM rear sedan swaybar. As much of my free time/money I kill for everyone locally......God Bless them.....locals pay me back in many, many ways. Hampton Roads really does own.

I'm glad you won the auction, I'll plan on settling the score for a catless TXS & Blitz combination (with or without silencer). How's that!

We should definitely test them at the meet, sounds like testing at your house would earn you a kick in the n*ts from the Mrs. plus your neighbors. It'll also give folks an opportunity to check out each car. Break out the clipboard - I'll start a spreadsheet!

Oh, also I would think we'd have much more test data at the meet.

rschunck at cox dot net is my paypal addy if anyone wants to contribute. While normally not my cup of tea to take contributions, it really would save me a shot to the nutz. Locals who have met my wife know my statements about her kicking me in the nutz to be not far from the truth.

Exactly how I was going to do it Jeff, thanks!
