I'm ba-aaaack! I plan to start looking for a black 2011-2013 WRX or STI hatch and rejoin the Subaru community soon. Actually leaning toward a WRX as I may not track this one, but if I do it would still be pretty capable. I have been out of the track scene for a couple years. Any insurance companies that cover HPDE's or other track day events now, or do you still have to just be careful or purchase insurance from the host of the track day at the event?

I haven't found any standard insurance company that still covers HPDE. Depending on the event, I get single day coverage.
Bored of the Z already?

Does anyone in the area have an EJ20 torque plate? I'm thinking about getting one.
I am hooked up with several great high-end engine builders, but non of them have much EJ experience... any recommendations?
Planning a closed deck ej20g 2.1 with STI crank, eagle rods, ??? pistons, Blouch 16g-xtr and STI TMIC. Looking for a long lasting, reliable and bulletproof DD with great response and 320ish whp (04 5speed) on a Mustang dyno.

The OG is going to return? I was wondering how long/how many cars it would take.

Franz- The Z is awesome, but I got rid of it for an employee special on an electric leaf which is the perfect car for 95% of my driving and I know I should keep it, but if it works out financially I may go with a new WRX instead.

Adam- the official tally would be two cars

So I know you guys must think I am crazy to get a leaf, but it is actually a very cool car- just completely different from everything else

Z to leaf. I guess one thing they have in common is that they are both impractical... lol
An electric car is appealing for my short commute to work though.
Hope to see you in a WRX again soon Pete

Well so much for the Subaru idea. For some reason our Oshkosh store thinks my car is worth $10k less than my store??? So if you see a red leaf driving around its me... since you won't hear it. Haha!

Already thought of that, but for some reason I can only do that for a car at our store. Someone in Oshkosh does not want a used Leaf I guess. Does not bother me that much now that gas is $4.20/gallon!?!

I am new to Subaru and a little challenged (when it comes to wrenching, not mentally). Wondering if someone in the Appleton area would help me clean my banjo bolt filter on my 2005 Legacy GT.

It's not really that hard for most of them... there's only 1 that you can't get at.

I was thinking it was not hard, but.....

The head of the bolt for the heat shield snapped. I was able to get the nut off the other bolt. Then went to remove the last bolt that holds the bracket and the head stripped. Ended up taking it to a shop to get removed. They said it was a PIA to get removed. They also tried removing the banjo bolt and said it was froze in place and could not get it to turn.

I am assuming that once you get the bracket out of the way you should be able to turn the banjo bolt? Do you have to remove the line going into the banjo bolt? Also the bolt that the head snapped off of will cause a problem when I want to replace the heat shield with an aftermarket one?

The banjo bolt is underneath what you have pictured as the banjo bolt. All of the heat shield bolts are vertical except one I think. The banjo bolt is horizontal under that metal oil line. You don't have to remove or unhook the oil line. If you are standing on the passenger side the head of the banjo will be toward the firewall and the threads go into the engine. I think. Can anyone else confirm this? Sorry it has been at least 3 years since I did this and I don't have the gt anymore. But if I saw it in person I'd remember.

Is your picture taken from the rear or side view? Either way it is underneath the oil line and sits horizontally.

It has been a few years since I took one out, but I think you needed a stubby box end wrench. Just make sure you don't loose the copper washer that is in between the line and bolt. You might want to

I forgot you might want to tie a string around that oil feed line to keep it tight up to the engine. That way you don't drop the copper washer. If you do drop the washer it is a pita to get back on in place. I had to thread some dental floss thru it and drop in down into place thread the banjo thru and then pull the floss out.

Thanks for your input. I was able to remove the filter. Now I have some piece of mind.
