If you've got summer tires in MO, you probably should also have a set of either separate winter tires or all seasons. Just because it is MO, and the weather doesn't make much sense. That's what I did anyway, but that's just cause I love driving my subaru in all seasons

While tires make a difference, the driver makes the most difference.

I've been on summer tires through all these snows with no problems. I ran summer tires in North Carolina mountain winters with no real issues.

Cliff notes: your argument is invalid

NWIC member here for the week. Just wanted to give a shout out to the all the fellow MWSOC members. Flew in from Seattle and said to myself, "Damn, this would be fun in the Subie."

Where are you staying in STL? Some places would invoke more of a "Damn, when is my flight out?"

I just drove in from Kansas City for the weekend. Took the lady friend's SUV, wishing I had the STI to hit some backroads I haven't seen since high school.

Nah, it's really not.

Just because *you* have driven through the winter on compromised summer tires doesn't mean it's a good idea. AWD doesn't mean jack if your tires aren't getting traction.

Default April Cruise

We haven't had a good cruise in a month or so due to weather.
I personally am not able to do a cruise on Saturday, so I say we shoot for this Sunday. The same route(s) that we were planning for the March cruise. Prime time to get some really good GoPro vids so I can make another video.

Here's all the info:
Date: Sunday, April 14th
Time: Meet at 11:30AM, Depart at 12:00PM
Pre-Cruise Meeting Location: Behind the MotoMart at Fountain Lakes Blvd and Elm St/New Town Blvd right off of 370 in the back. Meeting here at 11:30AM
If you're meeting us at Pere Marquette Visitor Center, we will be parking off to the left side if you're looking at the front of the visitors center. It should take us no more than 30 minutes to get there so look for us around 12:30. Time delay will be dependent on the ferry.

See the links below for the route(s) of this cruise.

This is the 'pre-cruise' route. Starting in St. Charles at the MotoMart off new town/elm and fountain lakes , meeting around 10:30AM, leaving at 12:00PM. We will be taking the Golden Eagle Ferry and Brussels Ferry. Golden Eagle costs $15.00 round trip so if you plan on coming back with us then you might as well go with the Round Trip fee. The Brussels Ferry is free.

This is THE route. The meeting area will be at the parking lot of the Pere Marquette Visitor Center. I suggest that anyone planning on meeting here, instead of doing the pre-cruise', get there around 12:15 and be prepared to leave around 12:30AM at the earliest. The ferry rides may cause a time delay for the 'pre-cruise' group arrival.

The cruise is about 73 miles long and there will be about 2-2.5 hours of driving time depending on if you do the pre-crusie or not.

It was a great run the last time we did it, just be sure to keep your distance and remember to bring cash for the ferry.

Cruise is going to be either the 28th or 29th. Start time will be around 11AM.
This cruise is going to be running into Washington, MO then back via some of the great back roads. Low traffic, great scenery, sweet roads.
Check out www.gatewaysubies.com for the info. They have alot of events and get togethers going on in the STL area.
