OK, There's plenty of beer left over from the weekend, and the garage should be warm.
I'll be starting around 10 A.M. |

It's OK, we got the clutch replaced. Throwout bearing looked pretty horrible!

Wish I would have checked here before wasting the day away. I would have loved to see how to replace my clutch!! =D
On the banjo bolt screen note: I read in other places that the 08+ does have them, however since I'm super anal about changing oil I'm not going to worry about it. They'll get removed if/when I upgrade the little TD04. Also, what's the facebook page? I'll "fan" it. |

I did see that. Too bad. What causes that kind of damage?

I missed out on all the old school nasioc crew. Yes, we are old farts and yes I'm the nasioc OG. No Suby news on my end, but I did pick up a sweet used M3 last month. So when do the new WRX and STI come out? It seems like Subaru has been talking about this forever...

The throwout bearing failed. I can't see any reason that the bearing would have failed due to anything other than it being a defective bearing...
About the only thing that would cause that would be someone holding in the clutch for too long causing the bearing to overheat and come apart eventually, but that seems unlikely. Probably just poor quality materials since it made it 100k miles. |

Thanks for the update Mark. I always wondered if it wasn't just my leg that got tired when holding the clutch in traffic. I always neutral it even at a light cuz I'm a whiney tit baby. LOL
Every time I hear of a 2008 with 100k on it, I'm like "WTF its not that old??" but then realize a.) My car is THAT old and b.) I don't drive nearly as much as the average person. Yet another reminder why I need to find a reliable beater to drive to work every day. :-) |

I have one, but its in the process of a slow rebuild for backup as well. I'm looking for a good machine shop for piston cylinder matching. Might be looking for a cheap miata for a gas/mileage saver/track beater tho.

Blanchards in neenah does good work! They require pistons before they bore/hone to make sure the cylinders r the right size
