Default Subaru Parts Availability Issues - Events In Japan

We have been notified by our District Rep that due to the unfortunate events that took place in Japan, we will be severly impacted here in the US. Since Subaru Parts are manufactured by Fuji Heavy Industries in Japan & Imported here - we will experience parts shortages for an unknown amount of time. Once Japan gets back on its feet & begins to re-structure, I'm being told that Toyota will take top priority over the others.

What parts will be effected? All!
I'm being told that even down to General Maintenance Parts ( Oil Filters, fluids, etc ) will be effected.

Where do we stand right now?
Subaru, like most other Import Manufacturers take a "Lean" stance when it comes to Car & Hard Part inventory to survive the slower times & un-expected Lull's in the economy. They use a "just in time" Inventory. Unfortunately for us, it is doing the opposite of what its intended to do.

The current US Inventory of Subaru Parts is based from a 30 day supply of Dealership order history. This being said, with the information at hand -all Subaru parts inventory will be depleted in approx 30 days. Most likely less due to the fact that most dealers will be ordering as much as possible over the next week or so.

This by no means is a sales pitch, we are not suggesting that you go ahead & start purchasing parts to modify your Subaru. This is a real issue that we WILL be facing shortly due to some very unfortunate events.

I would simply consider taking a look at any maintenance / repairs that you may require or be planning for over the next 6-12 months & ordering any required items for those types of situations in the next week or two.
