How do i replace the dome light? Is there a diy? Or do i simply pry the cover off and pull out the bulb?
thinkin about this bulb http://www.superbrightleds.com/morei...d-festoon/238/ ALSO ive come to understand that the 168 size bulb fits in parking lights, trunk light, plate lights, front sidemarker http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00755JMYS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A3V6HGPEJ9FWCX 10 for $10? Will these fit? worth it? As always thanks guys. Last edited by myrt1987; 01-04-2013 at 10:31 AM. |

You just pry the cover off. Start on the side opposite the switch. Note: The dimming feature may not work, or may work very abruptly, after you switch the dome light to a LED. |

Ouch, that sux. Doesn't look like anything that would cause frame damage, so you'll be good as new in no time.

Crap! Sorry to see that happen man. Damage doesn't look too bad (relatively) - rear hatch, bumper cover, possibly bumper reinforcement. However upsetting to say the least. Hope it gets fixed quickly and correctly.

That's awful to see man. Other drivers terrify me. It doesn't look too bad though, looks like the hatch door and bumper took most of the impact.

I can't recall any of the Auto magazine reviews (or Consumer Reports) complaining that Subaru engineered the Impreza with the CVT purely to excell in the epa test and not perform well in reality. The redesigned Impreza pretty much got rave reviews from all of them in their driving tests. The only caveat is that some of the reviewers stated that they would buy a 5 speed over the CVT, but that was because of the lower power from the redesigned engine - so they can wring more power out of it. Keep in mind that people that review cars for a living generally tend to be car enthusiasts who want the control the car, and generally prefer shifting themselves most of the time. Read some of the reviews of the Subaru and other cars, you will get the true picture. Last edited by Zeeper; 01-05-2013 at 09:46 AM. |

There have been at least 3 magazine reviews posted *here* where they talk about the weak mpg's (and most don't keep the car long enough to do their own checking), not to mention the statistical analyses that have been done and shown here comparing the difference in real world vs. claimed mpg. You've been pointed to them before - I don't feel like going back and getting links from here that you have already been shown and decided to forget or ignore. But, you continue to spread your falsehoods about the cvt, when you don't even have one. Why don't you talk about something you know about instead? |

Funny how Subaru engineered the car to excell in the EPA tests, but suck in everyday driving, yet all these different professional reviewers praise the car. Yes, professional reviews, not your lame opinion repeated as if it is fact. Maybe you need to watch the Consumer Reports and some of the other reviews again: Last edited by Zeeper; 01-05-2013 at 10:23 AM. |

Like I said before: "It does seem to be a problem with the cvt. The 5sp's don't have it, and of course there are nimrods who will defend the car to the death because they won't admit to themselves (therefore to anyone else either) there might be a problem with the car, so even if they have the 5sp they will defend the cvt." Plus, your links are irrelevant to the discussion of the cvt's actual mpg. |

And if there is a proven problem, Subaru will likely be forced to provide rebates like Hyundai /Kia just did.
I won't be sitting next to the mailbox waiting for a check anytime soon. |

Watch some professional video reviews of the CVT equipped Impreza (Consumer Reports has one, look at the videos I just provided you).
All the professional reviews I've seen say the car handles great, is slightly underpowered, but makes up for it by providing much improved MPG's. Not one stated they thought that Subaru was chasing MPG's purely, at the expense of real world driving performance, only that there is an expected trade off between less power and higher MPG's. There, I summed up most of the professional reviews in two sentences for you. There isn't a single review that I can find that agrees your opinion is valid. You can have your opinion, just don't confuse it with what most people (including professional auto reviewers) think. BTW did you miss this video, it talks specifically about the CVP MPG's, and completely undermines your seat of the pants observations: Last edited by Zeeper; 01-05-2013 at 11:22 AM. |

The CVT has one thing going for it:
-A taller overall gear ratio. Everything else suggests the 5MT would do better with a skilled driver: -5MT is lighter -5MT doesn't dissipate significant amounts of energy as heat (AT TEMP light) -5MT doesn't need to move through several gallons of cold, viscous fluid on startup -5MT doesn't steal heat from the engine -5MT's 0-60 time is better despite fixed gear ratios and interrupted acceleration, suggesting lower drivetrain loss I don't know whether the CVT's EPA rating should be lower, but that it's higher than the 5MT's is suspicious. |

Run the car for 7 minutes & reset the trip meter. Compare with the EPA rating.
You won't get close to the EPA rating if you do 15 minutes of short trips. At around 140F oil temp the MPG start to be efficient. |
