They should be hitting dealerships in the next week or two.

I need to try and get down to Flat Rock sooner than later to see it on the line.

Very interesting post by Ford Racing facebook page. Shows an EcoBoost mustang at a drag strip with slicks and the front wheels off the ground. Says they cannot wait to show off what they have for the EB Mustang. I am very interested. If they can up the power to around 350+hp and still retain the warranty I may go for the EB Mustang. I still need to test drive though.

Just googled and I saw that they already offer a CAI and reflash for the Focus ST that offers 48HP/90TQ for $795. Which is quite reasonable for maintaining the warranty. I know the Mustang engine isn't the exact same one, but if we can expect that or better on the EB Mustang, that could be quite a deal.

so to add to this post here is the picture I mentioned of the EB Mustang with ford racing parts:

A few people have reported with Ford Racing upgrades that usually retain your warranty and on the stock turbo the EB Mustang ran a 12.5 1/4mi

yeah but that's on a wrong wheel drive car with relatively low output... 250hp on the Focus ST right? There's plenty of room for improvement there. no guarantee Ford Racing parts for a mustang will have that kind of benefit.

To maintain the warranty, it would need to be installed by a Ford dealer. Still it is not a bad deal.

Yes there is. FRPP = Ford Racing Performance Pack Tune

Quote:
We have good word that the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost was running 12.5 sec quarter mile times on the stock turbo engine with the only modifications being 3.73 gearing, drag radials, downpipe, FRPP tune, and lightweight wheels. Truly an "EcoBeast" if true.

There are also whispers that Ford Racing is running 12.0 sec times with the 5.0L Coyote V8 with only drag radials and a tune. Very impressive and makes us even more excited to get our hands on the video.
Ill be curious how far this motor will go and still be reliable. Those are impressive numbers compared to the EBM numbers posted by some automotive reviewers.

What are the possibilities of the new 5.0 running a high 10 with full exhaust, drag radials, and nitrous? The older motors seemed to hold up fairly well to being bottle fed.

Nice, but it would be even faster going, stopping, and turning if it weighed less. Hoping a mid-cycle refresh brings the oft-rumored GDI version of the 5.0L V8 and maybe aluminum doors and roof skin if the aluminum-intensive F-150 passes the real-world-of-idiots durability test in the hands of consumers.

Id say quite easily. The limit on the 2011 - 2014 coyote was roughly 550 whp.

That should be right at a high 10 with traction.

BOSS 302 stock with radials or slicks was a high 11 car.

If it's a manual, I'd worry more about the transmission.

If they do someting like this for the mustang ecoboost I would probably try and snag one.

You must have missed my post above. They are doing upgrades to the EB Mustang and just 3.73 gearing, drag radials, downpipe, FRPP (Ford racing Performance Pack tune, and lightweight wheels. 12.5 1/4 time

A friend of mine is test driving a 15 GT all weekend. He had already posted how much better the steering is. I'll post details if he sends them to me.

some have reported a dead spot in the steering. one review said it was twitchy around town, but admitted he may have forgotten to turn off "Sport Plus" mode. Some reviews have said they got the electric boosting tuned just right. Others have lamented that the electric steering means the feedback is numb.

I'm just going to have to test drive this thing.

Pretty sure the mustang has had EPS since 2011.

Correct. Ford actually calls it EPAS, IIRC.

Not sure if I care for the sound of the Ecoboost. It sounds like a late 90s, riced out Civic. Otherwise, nothing too groundbreaking here, the 5.0s are about as fast as the S197s were with the same mods.

I do think it's fairly awesome that Ford is already producing parts for it before it even hits the dealers.

Anyone else notice how horrible the C/D observed fuel economy is for the Ecoboost? C/D observed 19mpg combined which is only 2mpg better than the GT. I am guessing the only way you will ever hit the EPA numbers is if you are downhill in a tornado, or hypermile.

I have read lots of similar complaints regarding EPA and other Ford Ecoboost models. I am guessing we will see some lawsuits coming similar to what happened to Hyundai (Hyundai had to admit their testing was faulty, had to reduce their EPA numbers across many of their cars, and also had to pay their customers).

Their observed MPG in the automatic ecoboost is identical to what the 2015 CVT WRX delivered.

Do you think we'll see lawsuits brought against Subaru, too?

The WRX hit the city EPA numbers. Did the Mustang?

Also, go back and read long term tests and look at fuelly for other Ecoboost models like the Focus ST. I was seriously considering a Focus ST and the general theme was you were not going to hit the EPA numbers unless you drove like a granny, and even then it was difficult.

Ford was already sued for EPA numbers for their Hybrid cars not hitting their EPA numbers and reports like this one are not helping their cause for Ecoboost:
