Default Engine Rebuild in So Cal (SD, LA, OC...)

OK, well it appears that I lost a ring in cyl #2 this weekend.... So I am in need of a good place that can rebuild/build-up the motor in my WRX. Right now the car is sitting at a friends house in San Diego, but I will take it pretty much anywhere within reason that is going to do a good job. I figure I might as well take this opportunity to stroke it and build the hell out of the motor, so I am looking for someplace with a lot of Subaru motor experience.

I would like to get this taken care of ASAP, so any recommendations would be helpful.....

Thanks
Jason Uyeda

I thought you were going to go for reliability for One Lap of America?

Also, if you don't mind me asking what kinda tranny did you end up buying, and how do you like?

you WON'T find a better price nor quality nor turn around time, then OUTFRONT, they know there stuff, go check out the shop in buena park if your interested, when you see the place & talk to the guy, you won't leave without it, Call & talk to Jeremy, there's plenty of people on here that had their shortblock done, Me, My brother, & stiMo (steve) has all recently had a full blown closed deck from them with nothing but the best parts, 1/2" head studs, closed deck was ONLY 3300, but they do mild stuff to like re-work your block or just take your core & give you another EJ25, & Bring your car on down or motor or whatever

& btw FORMAN only uses Outfront,

Absolutely agree for John @ Costa Mesa R&D. He did the machine work for my documented build.

Out of all of the motors my brother and I have had built with many outher builders, like I have said in outher posts I WILL TRUST ONLY COSTA MESA R&D.

The reasions why:
1.He has been doing engine building for 40+ years.
2.His tolerances are +/-.00005 everywhere.
3.He is retired and dose this for the love of doing it. The money is just a bonus.
4.All of the motors he has built for us we have never had any issue at 50psi and yes we are still trying to break the first one he did for us.

Damn I love his engines, go John.

Yimi Sport definitely has tons of experience with engine builds, and would be more than willing to cater to your needs.

on average, what does a rebuild cost? i don't want to call the shops just yet, i just want to get an idea.

P.S. it's for a WRX i just found with a blown engine, thinking of buying it if the price is right for a rebuild.

Average ive seen is in the 3k range ( from 3k - 4k depending on the shop) with forged pistons.

Outfront FTW... I got all the parts I needed for my build from them... And if they didn't have them in stock, they had them the next day... Go check their shop out, they have TONS of subie engines sitting around waiting for the right owner... And like it was previously stated, talk to Ron... He knows his ****
