I'm the same. With some of the cold weather we have had in January (below zero F) I've had one tank @29.x but all the others have been 30 or better calculated and not taking into account odometer issues which slightly under report miles.
I drive 75% highway or there about, and usually a 30+mile commute anywhere from 55 to 70 mph on urban interstate and then a few miles of city streets. Throw in some traffic or snowy commutes. Its had to give a true highway/city split. (With the CVT)r Here in MN we have ethanol year round. I did find some interesting articles on summer vs winter blends and a map of differnent gas blends in the US. While many like to blame the ethanol (and yes it might hurt mpg some) butane seems to be the key between winter and summer differences. Out east there appears to be a host of different state and regional gas requirments. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/fuel-e...ummer-fuel.htm http://www.energyanswered.org/questi...ss-the-country

Funny stuff here.
After a 200+ mile trip the first half of my tank landed me at 230 miles... Now that I have resumed my sh%ty short commute back home. the next 1/4 tank only netted an additional 70 miles... so with three ticks left I'm at 300 miles.. what... the.....%$#@..... that is just horrible lol Note: It was 70 degrees when i drove to Winchester(wacky DMV weather). And about 40 when I drove back home. The following days where of course sub 35 and snowy. But man what a difference |

Earlier in this thread (or possibly in another thread), we discussed that the 1st half of the tank (as indicated by the fuel gauge) yields more range than the 2nd half of the tank. This is normal, and has been true on other cars I've owned too.

Same. My MPGs are suffering in the cold but I don't mind because its fun to spin the tires and swing the tail a bit in the snow. Does your accelerator seem a little less responsive since you had the update?

Yea, I don't feel like I lurch forward from stoplights as much. I also feel like the wait is less going from reverse to D. I used to feel like a sitting duck in the parking ramp after backing up before I could go forward; I don't know how many times I was honked at, now it seems like only a second hestiation and off I go.

Hi there,
I have been a Fuelly member for a year, tracking most fill ups with my 2012 Impreza Sport (with spoiler). I've been averaging around 27 or 28 in my usual commute with the standard 10% ethanol blend found in most gas stations here in WA state. I did find a gas station here in Seattle that has 100% gasoline and just logged a 31 MPG tank! Taking into account the vagaries of my drive and the uncertainties here on just one tank, I estimate a 10% improvement in fuel economy with the no-ethanol fuel. Just wanted to tell everyone of my experience. If the fuel station wasn't so far out of the way, I would go there all the time. Thanks |

Stupid ethanol mandates! I understand that it is 10% less foreign oil that we need to import, however since the cars get worse gas mileage what are we really gaining?

it helps the farmers, but that is about it. and even then most of them don't want to grow corn for it. in the end we pay a lot more for fuel due to subsidies and lower mpg

I'd love it if I could buy E0 in regular unleaded (87 octane) gas. |

Bingo. I'm just glad that the E15 mandate has been shot down, at least for now. There was so much $hit about E15 messing up engines

Actually after further consideration, I think it's only about 0.75% mpg per 1% ethanol. In my experience anyway.

I'm new to this forum, looking at getting an Impreza as a commuter. I've read a bunch of pages on this thread. I'm not sure if I want the CVT or 5spd, but would I be correct in saying that the trending opinion here is that the 5spd is more closely matching fuel efficiency estimates than the CVT?
