i think you posted on the wrong forum. try the naturally aspirated with bolt on turbo forum. and to answer your question in short, no its not a direct bolt on. you will need alot of other parts from the wrx.

a solid answer is its not worth it. Your going to need a lot of extra parts and you will most likely severely cut the life of your engine. If you want to do it to see what it can do untill you drop another motor in there go for it but dont bank on longevity or power.

FAIL!
Well, heres you're lovely answer. The bare minimum you will need to turbo an N/A RS is going to cost you atleast two grand. Bare minimum is like Up pipe Downpipe Exhaust manifold Injectors (STi 550cc yellows most likely) STi fuel pump or greater turbo (which you have) intercooler (which you have) EM, most likely Emanage ultimate (thats gonna cost you a handful right there) You will need to notch your cradle Stock BPV Boost gauge Wideband 02 with AFR gauge Turbo waterpump most likely heat shielding, relocating of the bell housing plugs Gaskets+ miscellaneous harnesses for EMU. There is a ton of things I am forgetting. I was gonna turbo my 96 L but decided to just buy a wrx. IF you did all of the work yourself, you are looking @ around 2,000 minimum, most likely closer to 3. If you are paying someone labor, look into getting a wrx. IMO, your car can sell for half the price of a wrx. Just come up with the rest of the cash. With the 3 grand for the turbo and your car, you are @ about the equivalent of a cheap wrx as it is. |

Just swap a turbo motor into your car. Turbo gc's are always nice.

Yeah i just talked to a buddy of mine in Arizona that drives a GC and he told me that it is not worth the time and money to do a bolt on, So I'll prolly just go with a REX swap... I was trying to not spend so much money but it's worth the extra 3000 i was gonna save... Thanks

If you can do the work yourself, you can achieve similar results. The biggest obstacles when adding a WRX turbo to a GC are modding the cross member, modding the up-pipe, and adding a WRX water pump. A little searching on this forum goes a long way. Last edited by 2milehi; 11-07-2008 at 11:24 AM. Reason: Added pic |

It is a HUGE amount of work having been there done that. I did alot more building than you plan on doing but unless you have alot of tools, wrenching experience, and time to reaseach everything then just buy a used wrx motor and swap it.

mine ran 8.5 psi on the stock block for 2 years before a headgasket went- the easy way is to just do a swap, but if you want to be unique and give yourself a challenge, the rs-t is possible

^^^ Thanks for the complement. Just piece it together - it seems like you got a couple of parts already. It did mine in stages - First I added a WRX water pump when I replaced the timing belt. Then I notched the crossmember and welded in a support to make room for the up-pipe. That set the stage for adding the turbo stuff.

I am using the factory computer so no timing is being pulled out. I am not sure on which engine management upgrade to use but I probably will go MegaSquirt - I am just a little leary of tearing into the factory wiring. As for power, no guess but very noticeable improvement.

do you have a knock sensor ? I would recomend the Emanage ultimate. Its definatly the best solution you can use without going full stand alone and NOT being able to pass inspection. |

2MileHi's set up is definetly impressive, it was my intentions when I was planning my coupe turbo to model mine after his.
But with that being said, $600 is highly unlikely. In fact, this is the only time I've seen it done. Thats obviously with some talented fabrication skills. |
