Wait a sec.. I get why you shouldn't use CAI, but about K&N air filter-- are you saying that because of airflow properties, or because the oil can foul up sensor if you put too much oil on the filter?

I ran a K&N for about a year, took it off this winter, but coincidentally didn't get aroung to cleaning/re-oiling till today. (it's drying now)... I have paper filter in now.

I never had any issues with K&N, but I make sure to have correct amount of oil so it won't foul sensor.

I don't think there is really enough of a difference in flow compared to paper filter to cause a problem like a CAI can. Basically to me, the K&N is just a better filter, and a less expensive filter to run over the long run, just need to pay the $50 once- then after a few years it pays for itself.

I think it flows about the same as a brand new paper filter, but doesn't gradually reduce flow like a dirty paper filter does. Tell me if there's a different reason....

"friends" --odd I don't see a GTR in that picture. Clearly if there had been I would have felt differently about your friends Vin and Paul.

BWX- I've heard a lot of experiences of people not having much of a problem with the K&N filters or oiled filters...at least for the life of their car. This doesn't mean that they are good for it. There is lots of information on intake and filter options in the NA technical forum. I encourage you to read it. K&N essentially lets more air in, but also more dirt. Is it enough to notice? Maybe. The oiled filters are not good because over time the oil from the filter coats your MAF sensor. But the real reasons for not using a CAI or basically changing any part of the intake before the MAF is because of the error the MAF reads in airflow with those parts on. See the technical forum for more detailed info.

Just because the car is running. That doesn't mean it is running well.

Bluebatmobile. I think they're a user on here or the website is actually a photobucket account and I believe an email address is in there somewhere.
